Having followed this story closely, I can tell you definatively that Rather did not come close to counter the allegations of forgery. What he did do was to insinuate that the Right is behind the attack on the credibility of the documents and that the allegations of forgery are just political and not based on fact.
A personal observation - My reaction to Rather's report tonight is that he is not very smart [or he is getting old].
This shows the complete arrogance of this man, and the company he works for. It will not leak out, but I bet Clinton and him had a conversation today. If he thinks this is the end of this, he is genuinely certifiable.
Well, I recognize a Clintonian strategy: Refuse to release anything that would add fuel to the fire, eventually the MSM will throw up its hand declaring a "tie", and isolate your accusers to "partisan hacks". Stall, stall, stall until the story runs out of air.
That's Rather's game and NOTHING will cause him to release any more info. He's counting on this running out of steam within a couple of days....like being blown away by a hurricane.
