Gary Killian, son of the "author" of the CBS memos, just stated on air that when he tried to bring to CBS's attention the likelihood that the memos supposedly written by his father were dubious, they ignored his input, as well as his suggestion that they talk with some of Bush's co-pilots who would've vouched for Bush's performance as an Air Guardsman!
From the looks of the bags under Rather's eyes (photo on Drudge), he didn't get much sleep last night.

CBS 60 Minutes rep. "Mapes" told him that they were aware of others who would challenge forged docs but that they weren't interested because "they sound like they're supporting Bush"

Steven I have never seen anything like this....Rather is going to take CBS down. It's the damnest thing!
Of course they wouldn't follow this recommendation! When the 'game' is 'gotcha' the last thing you want to do is tip the other side off by vetting a story through the kind of people who might just drop a dime on you the minute they hang up the phone.
But...but...they said they couldn't find anyone that served with G.W.!!
Or, right, couldn't find anyone with a negative opinion of G.W. that served with him. Since pro-Bush people obviously are not believable.
The other threads that got pulled by the moderator on this subject were better. But, we are here now.
He was contacted by CBS. He told CBS that the family didn't have any of these personal papers and they (the family) did not provide any personal memos to CBS.
Also, said that when he spoke with CBS representative Mary Maip (sp?, Mape?, Maipe?), he told her that two other officers flew with then Lt. Bush could talk about it: a Lt. Rome (sp?) or Lt. Udell.
The CBS representative replied to Mr. Killian, "Yeah, we have talked to Rome, but he's pretty pro-Bush".
As we know, CBS was hunting for the documents. Maybe Ms. Maip (sp?) just got sick of turning up the documents so she just created them herself, printed it out, ran it through a copy machine 15 times (for "noise") and, VIOLA!, there are the documents.
My personal inference was that she already had the documents & was poking around without trying to let on that she already knew (given how obviously fraudulent they were) the documents were forged.
She was told there were no files from which these documents ever could have come from & CBS specifically refused to include any conflicting testimony in their 60 Minutes hit piece

From the look on Rather's face as he spouted his "lines" I think he needs to go to a mental ward.

But this is amazing. CBS is hosed. They are liars and a fraud.
The son is sharp, and was an officer in the unit himself. He told CBS that the documents were likely false, his mopther did the same (and is now openly calling CBS and 60 Minutes a farce) and they both gave names of other officeres (including Udell who trained Bush) who would vouch for the President's service and not lend credence to the slant of their hit peace. CBS ignored all of it...and never mentioned it.
This interview is ongoing and folks should tune in.
