I don't think this will do any damage to the Kerry campaign, whatsoever. Nobody has a reason to vote for the guy, just against Pres. Bush. One more lie won't hurt Kerry's standing with his loyalists, the "undecideds" will give him the benefit of the doubt (don't wanna be judgmental, doncha know?), and the lamestream media will pretend this never happened. Net loss to Kerry is zero. There might be a net loss to President Bush (Karl Rove set the DNC and CBS up!).

Bush needs to forget Kerry and concentrate on reasons to vote for him: "Prior to the last election, I promised the following and this is how I delivered, despite the most devastating attack on American soil by a foreign foe since the War of 1812. In this term I promise to work on the following and you know I keep my promises..." I think he has been doing a good job at this so far.

The debates may well determine the election - look for the LSM to spin them furiously in Kerry's favor.

Tend to agree. These things always look bigger when they're in your face.

Have to remember the the MSM is still the huge filter that the vast majority of people get their news through. They will throw a blanket over this and it will die down in a short period of time.

Case in point - Sandy Beger.

All in all, though, a huge short term boost for Bush and the Republicans.

I agree. the mainstream media still controls the news that american democrats and many swing voters see, and they can still bury this story or put some spin on it to make it seem less blatant then it really is. to get a real landslide for Bush, you'd have to cut into the votes from the Dem base - and the media isn't going to allow that.

still, every news cycle that Kerry fails to make points in now - is a win for Bush. and this story should knock about 5 cycles out of the remaining 54.

The documents ARE forged BUT CBS & Rather are going to dig in; claim the docs are authentic; refuse to turn them over to an independent third party; refuse to name the sources of the documents. In essence their reaction will seal their fate.

I really believe that the Clintons are behind the Kerry downfall that is slowly taking place...yes Bush would have still won but secretly there is a war room for Hillary somewhere...her think tanks are preparing for 2008 Of course the liberal left will say that our side is creating this

I can't believe that a GOP person would be behind this for the following reason:

The media is already rabid in their hatred for Bush. Why would a GOP person give the media another opportunity to the media to fawn over something bashing Bush?

At least not as long as Hillary Rob'em Clinton has anything to say about it.

Even if Senator Clinton were to die in a freak Pilates accident (heaven forfend!), Senator Kerry would never get another nomination.

Parenthetically, a friend who is a diehard Democrat and a pollster feels that Senator Clinton is too divisive a candidate to be nominated. He also feels that she has created her own enemies within the Party - for example, Senator Schumer would do anything to block her.

John Kerry: "Mr. Bush, make them stop talking about forged documents."

Who do you think Kerry will send to Texas to deliver the message tbis time? Kitty Kelley? The director of CBS's "The Reagans"? One of the four authors of the anti-Bush books featured on 60 Minutes this year?

The dems are far from conceding anything. They just don't know what to do at this point. If they stick with it, they may get badly burned since they are obviously fakes. But they also know if they can just get a couple of experts to say "maybe," they can still insist they are real. On the other hand, they can go into spin-mode, blaming it on a Republican dirty-trick, but that puts them into a very tough position, having admitted they are fake.

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of guys/gals/transsexuals.

This reminds me of a joke I recently heard:

two women went into a bridal floral store in Kerry State and the attendant approached them. The attendant asked "Are you the Bride, Groom, Bridemaid or Best Man?"

It's too late to save the Democratic party. The socialist left needs to go down in flames and be purged before they can come back.

When listening to CNN and MSNBC reporting this a.m., the two networks are wording the story as if documents from the official DOD records BUSH released are forgeries, and not stating that the docs came from CBS. This is going to make lots of people think BUSH forged the documents...The crapola continues.

Regarding the impact of this on the 'rats, Pat Caddell is wrong for all the right reasons. He is an old school guy, one of a vanishing breed ... dare I say it ... an honest liberal.

Caddell was a standup guy on the multiple Clinton scandals, denounced not only Clinton but the Kool Aide drinkers for circling the wagons, and called for forthright investigation, resignation, and (IIRC) impeachment. He might as well have been whispering in a hurricane for all the effect he had.

Caddell is a standup guy now, but he no longer understands his Party. It is thoroughly corrupted. This affair might well cost Kerry the election by alienating swing voters, but the average 'rat voter could care less. Just as the only lesson the 'rats took from Watergate is that Nixon should have burned the tapes, the only lesson the 'rat leadership will take now is that they were careless enough to get caught. Next time they will be more careful.

O f course the forged documents are not the sole fault of the Dems losing, they are merely a link in a long chain of things that caused the downfall. Even before the Swift boat ads shots were being fired, but the Swiftees fired the first
Broadside and it hit right along the waterline of kerrys craft and tore off the sails, This should take down the masts. Pretty soon the pumps will be overwhelmed and he will sink.
