Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 12:59 a.m. EDT Caddell: Dan Rather May Have Cost Kerry the Election
Longtime Democratic strategist Pat Caddell said Friday that if documents aired by CBS newsman Dan Rather Wednesday night turn out to be forged as alleged by experts, the presidential race "is over."
"It would be the end of the race," Caddell told Fox News Live. "It would be the end of the race," he repeated.
"[Democratic officials are] so involved in this," the former Carter pollster worried. "They have gotten themselves so involved in this issue, [in] the last 24 hours, that somebody's going to, if they're not authentic, they're going to be blamed for it. It's incredible to me that they've gotten in this." Caddell said he wasn't trying be sensationalize the issue, explaining that instead, "I'm trying to save my party, you know, by telling the truth."
He said that forfeiting the presidential race would be the least of his party's problems if Democrats are tied to any forgery scandal.
"The race is over - and we've got bigger problems than that," he warned.
Maybe YOUR party should have started telling the truth a long time ago.
You've got that right. Even as sorry as the democrat party is, they won't make that mistake again.
Bullseye1911: More like a serious case of "Arkancide"
I think Pat Caddell, Buckhead, and TankerKC had better have someone start their cars in the morning for them, cuz the 'Rats won't forgive this assault on their Right to Govern & Dictate.
You're right. I see the excuse being carelessness and the desire to get a hot story out first without doing their homework. Someone down the ladder will be blamed and the other major news channels will assure us this sometimes happens in the competitive business of news. They will all look deep into how they do things and try to correct the problem. Just like calling Florida for Gore before the polls closed. They used the same damn excuse, however I think most of us know better.
For the donut-shop owner, visualize John Kerry. For the fat clerk, I'll leave it to your imagination.
They're not called 'rats for nothing!
These forgeries have the fingerprints of CarVILE and "The Forehead" all over them. I hope that these documents can be proven to be forged, and that "Corporal Scewball" and "Paulie Numbnuts" end up heading to a federal lockup....although if I know the Justice Department (and I do), nothing will happen, and these two sleazeballs will be able to just go right on ahead slandering and lying about Republicans!
There's at least one mod on FR that acts like a DU poster. Prove him/her wrong in an argument and you get the power trip suspension. "How dare you prove me wrong!" lol
"I'm trying to save my party, you know, by telling the truth."
Wrong party, Pat... |
The DNC (Terry McAulliffe) was selected by and is controlled by Bill Clinton who is controlled by Hillary. As this gang gave their blessings to Mr Kerry at the convention, surely they knew that he had no chance to win! Did they consider that he was a radical war protestor in the 70's? Did they realize that his history is well documented? Did they think that he could win by running on his senatorial voting record? Didn't they realize that Kerry has flip-flopped all of his life? IMHO, they wanted a place holder doofus who was sure to lose 2004 to keep the 2008 slate clean for another candidate.
DING DING DING DING WE HAVE A WINNER!!!
LOL! Can't wait to hear the DUers start arguing about your post at 26. My guess is that they'll discount it as a sneaky ploy to shield Republican "disruptors" at DU, continue their attacks on level-headed democrat posters, drive them all out of the forum and not believe for an instant that they have any Pubbies among their mods.
Sorry. That should read "VRWCTH".
what can Kerry do right? We know he can't run a convention right, he can't run a campaign, he can't keep staff, and hell, he can't even sling mud right. WHAT CAN THIS GUY DO WELL?
btt
If you wanted to save your party you should have started telling the truth back in the late 60s and early 70s... its too late now.
Kerry is up for re-election in '08.
There's no way he'd give up his Senate seat for another shot at the Presidency, that is, if he doesn't win this time.
Unless Massachusetts law allows a US Senator to run for re-election at the same time they're running for President.
