Democrats and CBS were really dumb not to have checked these out with someone in the military from back then or civil service.
My take on it is that they knew the documents were forgeries, but that the people involved were all too young to know that the output from a typewriter was different than the output from a laser printer.
They really thought they were going to get away with this and that no one could tell the difference.
and today the new swiftvets ad comes out. The commercial has kerry HIMSELF saying he THREW 8-9 MEDALS away. It is a very powerful ad.
Since there was nothing to push the guard story, they had to make up something to keep the vets ad off the news.

This one is wrong. "1st Lt" is the correct USAF abbreviation. However, "Lt. Colonel" as shown in one memo is WAY wrong. USAF rank abbreviations do not employ periods and rank is never shown by combining an abbreviation with a spelled-out word. It's either "Lt Col" or "Lieutenant Colonel."

NASHUA - President Bush should have to explain newly released records that reveal his former Texas National Guard superior was asked to “sugar coat” performance records after finding Bush failed standards to be a trained pilot, Sen. John Edwards said Thursday.
“I think they are reasonable and legitimate questions the White House ought to answer,” Edwards said during an interview with The Telegraph.
CBS News released 1972 and 1973 memos Wednesday from Lt. Col. Jerry Killian, who had commanded the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron where Bush served.
In one, Killian wrote that higher-ups wanted him to “sugar coat” Bush’s record after he got suspended from flying for failing performance standards and missing a required physical.
Killian died in 1984.

If this goes the way I think it will, it's going to crush everyone in the democrat party, the old elite media, and a slew of tagalongs. The only ones left standing will be Bubba Clinton(go figure that?) and Zell Miller with Joe Lieberman to rebuild the party.

Ok...following that line of misguided logic.........Sources close to me speculate that Dan Rather is a Pedophile. That he is even worse than Michael Jackson in his daily predatory deviant sexual conduct. Others speculate that Dan Rather prefers little boys under the age of 5.
Although there is no evidence to support these likely fabricated charges, the allegations themselves are far more important than the truth of the matter and the damage that such charges could cause to an innocent man.
