After being largely confined to the internet and talk radio yesterday, coverage of CBS's apparent usage of forged documents has exploded into more traditional media outlets with several reports from the Associated Press, multiple stories by ABC News, The New York Times, The Lost Angeles Times, Fox News Channel, a front-page story in the Washington Post and more
CBS News hasn't been so pilloried in the press since Dan Rather's 2001 keynote speech at a fund-raiser for Texas Democrats. And it is justly being scrutinized today. Against the advice of many of his colleagues, Rather almost single-handedly put a story on the air that had relied on at least two forged documents
Typographical experts, legacy office equipment collectors, and even the family of the man who supposedly wrote the documents have all called into question CBS's "scoop." The fact that a bunch of people working independently on the internet could so readily debunk an obvious forgery tells a very disturbing story about the journalistic practices of a news organization that has allowed one man's grudge against the Bush family to set its remaining shreds of credibility aflame

I'm pretty sure that the original use of that phrase was by Rather on air one night in the past. Out of the blue he'd asked "What's the frequency Kenneth?" while looking like he was listening to something. The whacko had seen that and subsequently incorporated it into his mind control delusion...
Exactly . If they just used an old typewriter there would have been no way to spot we could be fighting a manufactured firestorm that could take down a president (that was there hope) all on a bald face lie
.reporter with there we dont reveal our sources can make up out of whole cloth and say anything they want with no outside verification
How the mighty have fallen! From the Tiffany Network to the Big Lots Network! )))KER-PLUNK(((
I learned my lesson...

Bravo Freepers...and for all of us who were anxiously reading the posts yesterday on the possibilities and keeping the question alive. "Wherever three or more are

This is from the Kerry Spot on NRO:
"But as word of the widow's skepticism broke, Drum appeared to conclude that CBS needs to mount a better, more detailed defense for the documents (besides, "trust us").
Things are still up in the air. At this point, there are enough legitimate questions about these memos that I really think CBS is going to have to provide additional information if they want them to be taken seriously.
One other point: I also heard through the grapevine yesterday that one CBS producers was very confident about this story, and that this person thought there was more revelations to come about Bush's National Guard years.
And this exchange just occured on Fox News:
Chris Wallace on Fox News this morning: I thought the reference to Paris Hilton was a dead giveaway.
More Wallace; At some point [CBS] is going to have to explain the discrepancies between this memo and what appears to be possible with the technology at the time
I dont think theyll have a huge impact on the campaign.
Fox & Friends Host: Should CBS reveal its sources?
Chris Wallace: What, are you trying to pull a Chris Wallace on me?"
I'm really hoping Chris Wallace's Paris Hilton comment has nothing to do with Dubya. I hope we don't have a W sex tape in our future. I didn't see the segment, and I pray that that isn't the case.

We love Dan Blather's ugly mug photos!!!
LOL. I love it too. I've e-mailed it to plenty of people that will get a good laugh out of it.
Oh NOOOOOO! Flashbacks!
Gawd, that picture brings back memories.
First saw Clockwork Orange in Amsterdam in the 70's on a hitchhiking roadtrip with a high school buddy. (Army Brats living overseas).
The bud was later a college apartment mate, and went on to become an Airborne Ranger (released early from his Army commitment because they didn't need Doctors of Econmics in the Rangers)
I'll have to email him to ask about his take on the whole Bush TANG thing...
My ex-Ranger bud and I still call each other Droogie Brothers as a result of that trip and Clockwork Orange. That doesn't mean either of us do drugs or advocate the film, it's just a remembrance of a long, strange, roadtrip to Amsterdam in the 70's (the couple in the bunk bed above me got applause from the whole room after they finally came in the hostel we were crashing at).
One of the reasons I like Bush is because of his "irresponsible youth" statement. I've been there and done that (fur sure).
