My black belt is in Glockfu, but I highly respect your dojo as well.

The first goal is to avoid conflict. I agree that the first goal is to avoid conflict, however I think that 'warning' the agressor is a dangerous thing to do as it shows a very valuable card in your hand. I would have acted like a wimp and tried to get away from the situation as a method of avoidance. If that didn't work, as a last resort I would then unleash everything I had at the most opportune moment using 'the element of surprise'.
Bottom line: You do it your way, I'll do it mine, thank you.

Bottom line: You do it your way, I'll do it mine, thank you. Well, certainly. But what you may not have realized is that when you posted "This action by the 'martial artist' tells me alot about him," your post told us rather a lot about you.

your post told us rather a lot about you. That's OK, because this is an anonymous forum and you will never know who I am. In real life, I would have never revealed as much as I did. Silence is golden.

Thanks for the clarification. You are right.

The next time I am assaulted by six Fijian ruffians bent on mayhem, I shall try to remember your advice!

I shall try to remember your advice! Very wise, Grasshopper. (sorry, couldn't resist a hanging curveball)

"Do you want karate?" he asked. Worst B-movie line ever ping.

"Thanks, but I'll take my Kimber Ultra Carry II .45ACP" Heh..heh. That reminds me of the T-shirt I had once. Under a big 'ol silk screen of a Colt .45 ACP It said:
"DON'T CALL 911 - USE 1911"
