At a cost to taxpayers of abt $41 billion a year, don't cough costs Asa - just do your job - enforce the code or get out so someone else with more testicular fortitude may.
It's scary that someone so wimpy and out of touch as Asa Hutchinson is Homeland Security Undersecretary.
Wasn't he involved in some scandal? Any chance he is being blackmailed? Some of his comments make me wonder about his patriotism.
You have the right idea. With modern technology, online verification is perfectly feasible.
But the truth is, neither the government nor employers really want to do it.
But if the voters clearly indicate they want it done, it will get done.
I think this guy, from Arkansas, is protecting the labor suppy of his buddies at the Tyson Chicken Processing plants in the state that routinely employ illegals in their Arkansas plants.
Letting Mexico flood our labor markets with their unemployed and poor is a huge mistake and Bush could lose at least some of the states bordering Mexico and perhaps other states as well. If this is a strategy it is a poor one. Most Americans don't agree with letting law breakers get a pass.
How about you go knocking down doors of every Hispanic. Especially my door, especially my brother's door.... ha, how are you going to find every illegal alien and send them out right now? What fantasy land do you live in that involves the possible logistics of removing 2 million illegal aliens?
And you my friend have the answer. Prosocute the people who hire... all of them.
Let's put it to a national vote -- but only after all the destructions caused by the Illegal Invasion have been fully documented and the costs to the taxpayer totaled.
I have every confidence that, after such open & fair debate, the American people will vote to uphold our Constitution, seal our borders, hunt down and expel - permanently - all Illegals, and to include those who overstay their visa.
But then El Presidente Fox wouldn't like it, Jacques Chirac & his Dimocrat cronies wouldn't like it at all.
Umm, it's not "denying them", it's denying anyone & everyone "jobs and services" without sufficient proof of eligibility.
The "Papers please!" screams and howls of outrage will be thick and furious here if such a policy is ever implemented.
Yeah, I can't imagine our government sending paramilitary style troops to break down doors. /s
There are so many ways to get rid of illegal aliens. Seal the borders; deport those caught immediately and round up others; stop the perks and free social services; have those who employ them do hard time; don't allow children born to illegal become citizens; no driver's licenses for them and no Social Security. Etc.
"Potential illegal"? That would be you, pal.
"Papers please! Your papers are not in order. Come with me, bitte..."
Asa Hutchinson is dangerous to American freedom, from when he was Drug Czar and now as Undersecratary for Homeland Defense.
This man is a danger to our freedom and our Constitution. The sooner he is out of government office and behind bars, the better.
I spit at my television every time I see his smarmy mug!!
ASA YOU ARE A SCUM BAG!!!
BINGO! It is a variation of the "Broken Windows"* theory.
Look what happens when the Border Patrol does even marginal sweeps of illegals in California - their "Latino rights" lapdogs scream about the panic and uncertainty the BP inficts on their poor clients.
Look what happened when a civilian migra-green-striped chopper flew over a construction site in Texas - more panic and a mass exodus, not only of the worksite, but of apartments in the neighborhood.
Hutchinson mouths the standard liberal line: "There's too many of [fill in the blanks[ - all we can do is surrender."
Bush better thank God that the Democrats are just as unwilling to tighten the borders for they could really damage him on this issue.
If a window is broken and left unrepaired, people walking by will conclude that no one cares and no one is in charge. Soon, more windows will be broken, and the sense of anarchy will spread from the building to the street on which it faces, sending a signal that anything goes.

And theres one person who lives in the white house who has the worlds biggest soapbox. All he has to do is step up on that soapbox, and with a flick of the wrist, stroke of the pen, a few wise words and like magic great things would happen.

Amen brother, Amen
Exactly. But I doubt if Asa has the will to do that either. If we would have taken that attitude on December 7th, 1941 we would be speaking Japanese now.
Now we're going to be stuck with speaking Spanish!!

It's a big job that will get bigger. As we all know Americans are not afraid to tackle a big job, we roll up our sleeves and dig in.
