Killian said the memos appear to be faked. In one of them, he said, his father's first name is used in the signature. "I don't recall him ever signing with his first name," the son said.

The guy couldn't type. How many white-outs or erasures are there in the 'memos'? < /rehortical question>

The goons on the 9/11 Commission would love CBS...
They use "imagination".

The fact that SeeBS "news reporters" didn't call Killian's family for verification before going on air with this bogus story, tells us all we need to know about their intentions.

The son of President Bush's former squadron commander is disputing the authenticity of memos allegedly written by his father that are critical of Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard.TRANSLATION: CBS did NOT EVER CONTACT the son in an attempt to authenticate the documents. The ONE person still alive that would be in a position to know, CBS never talked to.

Amazing. No one at CBS thought to check with the man's son???
According to the Associated Press, the White House distributed the four memos dated from 1972 and 1973 after obtaining them from CBS News. The White House did not question their accuracy.
It really looks like Bush, Cheney, etc., were certain that these memos were forgeries before releasing them, and they just wanted to watch the media and the Democrats look foolish.

Any official MOR (memo of record) will be placed in the Airmans records not the person who wrote them. This store is so full of grap it's not even funny. The civilians are going googles over this and anyone who served in a management position knows there are so many falsehoods said about Bush's service it's crazy.
I told my business partner months ago exactly the same what York wrote today about the point system.
What nobody has said YET is the fact that the democraps have slandered all Guard members smearing Bush while we had thousands of guard and reserves killed in Vietnam (Even many from Bush's unit) and have thousands of Guard members fighting in iraq right now !

He said that a CBS reporter read the documents to Hodges over the phone, and that Hodges replied that "these are the things that Killian had expressed to me at the time."Well, that settles that. /sarcasam

If he was not an experienced typist the Selectric would have driven him insane. It was not an easy typewriter to use. It had a white ribbon for erasing mistakes but you had to hit the erase button immediately after making the mistake or it wouldn't return to the exact spot and you would miss overstrike the character. There were actually two buttons for backspacing, one for full spaces and one for half spaces. If you didn't know the typeface really well it was very difficult to backspace correctly.

What the heck does this mean? AP keeps humping this story. The White House did NOT distribute these memos. They were sent over to the WH as a courtesy by CBS - SOP - and the White House made no comment, and sent them back.
AP are proven liars. Proved right here on FR, @9/3/04 when they completely FABRICATED the story of the boos at the Bush Rally in Wisconsin. LIARS

CBS is standing by their story, saying it was based on more than just the docs.
If you take away the docs, they have Barnes, who has been discredited because he wasn't Lt Gov at the time he said he was, and a bunch of anonymous sources. These sources seem to be saying that, in their opinion, the docs say what they think Killian would have said, if he wrote the docs.
Those closest to Killian, his wife and son, disagree. But CBS never interviewed them.
Yellow journalism at its lowest.
