UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:
Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.
The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

Does anyone remember a few years back when Dan Rather covered a hurricane on the Gulf and tried to hang onto a post during the wind and rain?
Well, he'd better find a post soon, for this hurricane may sweep him away!

It could do special symbols if the typist went back and changed out the rotating ball. But it still is using modern Times Roman for Word Processors and not the typewriter Times New Roman common in 1972.

I think it'd almost be worth it to fax them
this "newly found" document from Manchurian Candidate.

Don't just email. WRITE a letter or call them. emails mean nothing. You can't imagine how sensitive they are to direct action.

You must have been reading my mind! But I never listen to them anymore. I just laugh thinking about them! Could you let us know what they say?

I'm convinced this was the dirty trick planned for the week before the election, but they had to roll it out early because of JF'nK's plummeting polls. Not that they might not have another of these moldy oldy charges ready to recycle the weekend before the polls open ala the 2000 drunken driving charge.

I have pretty serious doubts as to a southern national guard unit actually having email in 1972. As a kid I was allowed to futz around with a lunar lander simulation on a computer at the War College in Leavenworth in 1975/6 and all input and output was via a typewriter system with all of the "graphics" output on tractor feed paper... Anyone in the military back then have a line on this?

Thanks for the ping! This whole thing is simply marvelous.
When you do the right thing, for the right reasons...it always works out well in the end.
When you do any other combination than that, it ALWAYs comes back to bite you in the butt, later.
The lengths the Dims will go to, in the name of power....utterly amazing.
