General Staudt was retired!
Powerline ^ | Sept 9 2004 | Big Trunk

Posted on 09/09/2004 4:34:07 PM PDT by Dog

UPDATE 12: In the August 18, 1973 memo "discovered" by 60 Minutes, Jerry Killian purportedly writes:

Staudt has obviously pressured Hodges more about Bush. I'm having trouble running interference and doing my job. But wait! Reader Amar Sarwal points out that General Staudt, who thought very highly of Lt. Bush, retired in 1972.

The more I look at these "memos," the more obvious it appears that they are inept forgeries.

They'll just say he "retired" in 1972 but hadn't "left" yet because of the paperwork required. Or something just as lame.

I think Staudt is still alive.

Well .. since he's in the hospital .. I would really suspect Carville or Schrum wrote this little ditty.

Speaking of Carville, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if he set this up to sink Kerry so his queen Hillary can run in 2008. 8-)

You are welcome, Snippy. How are you doing? Boy! I noticed since you went to Oregon they may even swing toward Bush this time! Good job! :)

< tinfoil> Sid either sat this election out, or his work is evident here. < /tinfoil>

T'is good to see Kerry bring out the big guns like Serpent Head, U. Teddy, Tank Dukakis, and the Forehead. Methinks the democRAT party is having a bad case of buyer's remorse.

I love the smell of napalm in the morning...

Ever see an officer refer to another officer without reference to rank in official correspondence?

Kerry's doing poorly in the polls, so he hires some attack-dog campaign staff

Lemme see. So far Laura Bush is promiscuous and a dope dealer. George is snorting coke at Camp David while his father was president, after he quit drinking, and getting abortions for his girlfriends. And the Texas Air National Guard has the most advanced typewriters on the planet in 1972 proving that a dead man ordered Bush to take a physical and he deliberately disobeyed him, except still can't explain how it could type an elevated smaller th, but it's still possibly authentic (according to CBSNews.com).

Carvelle is definitely on the job.

Go, Carvelle!

Looks like there won't be anything left for an October surprise.

Oh, I forgot, the chicken pictures with Osama bin Laden and George sharing their love of youngsters together.

My wife works at a TV station (ABC). I'll ask her about FCC license renewals--I think they come up every year. I know that the public can write to the FCC to comment on the station's "(ir)responsible use of the public airwaves" when these licenses come up for renewal. We'd probably be swatting at windmills, but it would certainly make a wave if we could get a grassroots write-in movement going to complain to the FCC about CBS's attempt to smear the president and indirectly spoof a national election.

As Jeff Birnbaum observed on Fox tonight, if (when) the public comes to believe these memos were forged or otherwise faked it will be a major catastrophe for the Kerry camp - makes me cry just to think about it........
