In a damning condemnation of left-wing behavior, a new book on the Al-Aqsa Intifada, quotes Hamas leaders saying that the behavior of Israel's left-wing encourages them to continue their attacks.
The book, The Seventh War written by journalists Avi Yissocharov from state-run Voice of Israel radio and Amos Harel from Haaretz was based on a comprehensive investigations and interviews with Hamas leadership in Gaza and Israeli prisons, carried out by the two journalists.
Yissocharov told Channel 1s New Evening program this afternoon that Hamas leaders told him over and over again that it was the Israeli left-wing that encouraged them to continue to carry out terror attacks.
Yissocharov outlined the general consensus among Hamas leadership he had interviewed for the book: The Israeli left-wing and your peace-camp are what ultimately encouraged us to continue to carry out suicide bombings. We tried, through our attacks, to create fragmentation and dissention within Israeli society, and the left-wing encouraged us in that regard. When we heard about the Pilots Letter, the refuse-niks and the elite soldiers refusing to serve [in Judea, Samaria and Gaza ed.] it strengthened our confidence in the effectiveness of the suicide bomber. The disengagement from Gaza is proof of our victory. The fact that Sharon is willing to withdraw unconditionally is basically equivalent to raising a white flag and retreating. Only by force are we able to teach the other side what to do.
I think you are missing the point that these kooks illustrate more clearly than anything the incoherant views of the far left and, of course, their intellectual honesty. They actually spend money to get to these events so ultimately it is their loss while still benefitting the economy.
Exactly, do you think that the U.S. even under a Democrat would put up with Terrorists attacking us every other day?
No Way!!
If we were Israel and we had a neighbor that was doing that to us how long would it take for us to put an end to it???
Totally amazing...
CD
This is a reader 4 sure.
"Could the left in America be doing the same in the eyes of Al Queda and other terror groups>"
Yes.
"When we heard about the Pilots Letter, the refuse-niks and the elite soldiers refusing to serve [in Judea, Samaria and Gaza ed.] it strengthened our confidence in the effectiveness of the suicide bomber."
This is exactly the effect that people warned about.
It's the same effect that Jane and John , et al, had in Vietnam.
The Enemy Within and The Fourth Estate = terrorists, seditionists, traitors and subhuman hate-America filth. They all need to be duly charged, rounded-up, tried, convicted and executed.
BTW - are these soldiers still in jail?
That's what I always thought about the Israeli left, that they had no spine and were appeasement weasels.
Most of us are already aware of the effect of propaganda. Even most of those who propagandize for the enemy of aware of it. Only a handful of useful idiots are oblivious to effects of their actions.
I've stopped trying to follow the logic of the Left. They critique chr*stianity from a European enlightenment point of view yet celebrate the "pristine" superstitions of "indigenous pipples" and now fundamentalist islam against that very same viewpoint. They supported Ayatollah Khomeini's (mach shemo) islamic/Communist revolution in Iran while using the terms "ayatollah" and "mullah" to label the chr*stian right. They condemn "white racism" while advocating a lily-pure Gaelic-Communist Ireland. They insist on a "multicultural" Britain while advocating the ethnic cleansing of the English who live in Scotland.
In the last analysis Leftism seems to boil down to hatred of the United States of America--a somewhat ironic fact considering the American Revolution was the first radical chic cause celebre of the International Left and the rough Continental backwoodsmen were celebrated by the same European intellectuals who now hate their descendants and sympathize with a non-western medieval "theocracy."
I'm scratching my head.
"Could the left in America be doing the same in the eyes of Al Queda and other terror groups America is fighting in the active sense?"
Yes. Al Queda and other terrorists want to divide the west. They will keep attacking, keep trying to break the coalition - like they apparantly did with Spain and the Phillipines - and encourage the rift between USA/UK and France/Germany.
This is a great article
And read Yossef Bodansky's book on the Arab-Israeli situation in the 1990's (can't recall the name, something like "Peace at any Cost"): Who, you may ask, encouraged the Left in Israel to offer concessions and, in the process, promoted the idea that Israel was weak?? Who? Who? Could that have been (drum roll) Bill Clinton, Maddy Albright, and Martin Indyk??
