I have contributed to the Swift Boat Vets on two different occasions. Today, when I opened my e-mail, there was a thank you note from them, along with news of upcoming ads they will be running. I clicked on the link to contribute again. As I look back, I realize the form didn't look the same and I never looked at the header. (my mistake) However, I filled it out and contributed $50.00.
When the completed form popped up, I nearly had a heart attack!! I had contrubuted $50.00 to the Democrat National Party, complete with John Kerry's picture. I immediately called my credit card company to have it removed. I was told I must wait until I receive the bill to dispute the "contribution".
To those of you who will be contributing to the Swift Boat Veterans, PLEASE BEWARE the Democrats have a little pop up scam going. I will making phone calls in the morning to alert radio talk shows et al if this outrageous SCAM.

God, I hope these people rot in Hell.
Alert talk radio??
If this is true, you should call the FBI!!
I don't believe this post at all. How would the DNC get the email list from the swifties? The switfties are definately trying to raise more money now, I received an email from them and it is legit. So this would mean that the DNC sent a second fake email to all these same people. But in that case, people should be reporting that they have recieved two emails, one from the swifties and one fake one from the DNC. Since this is not happening, then this whole thing is made up by someone trying to stop people from giving money to the swifties.
No the dems didn't go AWOL, or shall I say it hasn't been disclosed yet, but the GOP hasn't gone to another country and used a zippo lighter on an innocent village destroying the entire contents, men, women and children. I think I can live with being AWOL than being called a mass murderer of innocent men, women, children, and villages, and shooting children in the back.
Report this to the FEC immediately. Also contact the FBI and the Postmaster General. This is clearly fraud. If their fraud was perpetrated through the mail it is mail fraud.
Dont get excited. Just make sure they know it is in dispute and you want it charged back.
They do it every day. Itll be ok. They wont end up with your 50 bucks. I promise.
The Swift Boat vets e-mail appears totally legit. I think SDR is mistaken or is planting a bogus story to deter donations to the Swift boat vets. SDR should post the email immediately.
Well, if someone is making this up, it isn't SDR. He's been around since 1997 and has join #323. About the only one with a lower number is JimRob himself!!
Thank you for contributing to the support of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
This email is your receipt for your contribution of XXXXXXX
This was what I got back from them on 23 August.
There was no transaction number. Checking card statement now.
If two e-mails were sent, compare the timing. Mine, which I believe is legit, was sent at 2:07p today.
I just got off the phone with my credit card company. (again) I raised such a stink they have removed the transaction from my card. It didn't hurt that the customer service representative was a rabid Bush supporter. Normally they cannot remove the transaction without speaking to the bank of origin. However, the rep removed the transaction pending my credit union calling with authorization tomorrow.
I sent a donation to the swiftvets and I never received an email to confirm it.
Just buy a number of the Unfit books and hand them out. You are guaranteed to give the money to the Swifties that way.
Sensei Ern
Anyone falling prey to such a scam should just call the 800
number on the back of their credit card...they love to remove
crap like this.
Under credit rules the card issuer is the final responsible party in a fraud claim...they do NOT want to hassle with crap
like this.
I got the same email.
ADWARE / Spyware Perhaps? You say you went to Swiftvets.com to make a contribution.
Some really sleazy Adware programs will pop up ads for the competitors of web sites you are visiting. Does your computer have Adware, or is it clean?
The pop you describe could have be initiated by Adware / Spyware on your computer if the DNC (or even a 3rd Party) bought ads to display whenever you visit Swiftvets.
