I have contributed to the Swift Boat Vets on two different occasions. Today, when I opened my e-mail, there was a thank you note from them, along with news of upcoming ads they will be running. I clicked on the link to contribute again. As I look back, I realize the form didn't look the same and I never looked at the header. (my mistake) However, I filled it out and contributed $50.00.
When the completed form popped up, I nearly had a heart attack!! I had contrubuted $50.00 to the Democrat National Party, complete with John Kerry's picture. I immediately called my credit card company to have it removed. I was told I must wait until I receive the bill to dispute the "contribution".
To those of you who will be contributing to the Swift Boat Veterans, PLEASE BEWARE the Democrats have a little pop up scam going. I will making phone calls in the morning to alert radio talk shows et al if this outrageous SCAM.

Resorting to fraud is nothing new for them.
Call your credit company and have them do a chargeback....let's just say it does not look good on the DNC's credit record or merchant profile. Again, no refund....ask for a "chargeback".
Me, too. I'm using IE 6.0.
To post a link in HTML, you first link to the URL (donate to dems) THEN add what you want the link to look like (Swiftboat Vets).
I don't think a virus is involved.
This is the ass who steals contributions.
It's not a trojan. I copied Nick's post and changed the links to illustrate what the scammers do. Nick created the email for the Swiftvets. The email html that is the topic of the thread and it's header, hasn't been posted yet.
You can't blame the DNC or anyone based on where the money is GOING. Anyone could be doing this including someone trying to make the President Bush or the DNC or FR or even the Swiftboat Vets look bad.
Why don't you post the email header so we can all take a good look at it?
I've seen the body of the message enough times now. What I need are the full headers.
But you didn't tell anyone that. And as you can see from this thread (note especially #173), your doing that confused the hell out of people and contributed to this thinly-disguised effort to scare people away from the SwiftVets.
I've been nice about this, but I'm starting to get un-nice. There was no good intent in starting this thread. This thread is about scaring people. There was nothing wrong with the email, and the email does not send anyone to the DNC. Period.
Sure I did. The fact that some folks didn't read and understand what was being posted notwithstanding.
I don't think the thread was intended to scare folks away from the Swiftvets site. Note the number of donations made and the comments verifing authenticity of the transactions.
Since the author of the thread has refused to post the original email html and header, I have to concluded that this is a hoax. It looks like a hoax with the simple intent of smearing the DNC. What I detailed on the thread shows the only way it could happen.
