I have contributed to the Swift Boat Vets on two different occasions. Today, when I opened my e-mail, there was a thank you note from them, along with news of upcoming ads they will be running. I clicked on the link to contribute again. As I look back, I realize the form didn't look the same and I never looked at the header. (my mistake) However, I filled it out and contributed $50.00.
When the completed form popped up, I nearly had a heart attack!! I had contrubuted $50.00 to the Democrat National Party, complete with John Kerry's picture. I immediately called my credit card company to have it removed. I was told I must wait until I receive the bill to dispute the "contribution".
To those of you who will be contributing to the Swift Boat Veterans, PLEASE BEWARE the Democrats have a little pop up scam going. I will making phone calls in the morning to alert radio talk shows et al if this outrageous SCAM.

This fundraising email is legitimate -- SwiftVets sent it out earlier today to previous contributors.
If there's a scam version out there using modified html, we'd very much like to know about it.

I've never seen a post from SDR and I am on FR a lot since 1998

LOL! Loved your post, BJN, but I'd never do that myself. Don't have the patience for it. I just contact people's legal departments and have a chat with one of their lawyers. They've always been extremely helpful.

Did you notice where the links in #131 take you?

Welcome to Free Republic.
I have no idea about all the false sites. I got the impression that they have used different iterations of Swift vets, Swiftboat -- singular, plural, letters switched, the usual typos, etc.
I just double check and go from the home page of the Swiftvets.com.
The link below goes directly to their secure server: "https"

You must immediately do the following:
Notify the local RNC chairman
Notify The state attorney general,
file a complaint with the FEC (Federal Election Commission)
File a complaint with Attorney General John Ashcroft
and if possible File a complaint of fraud with the FBI
Its bad enough the demonRats try to steal our money through taxation, but now they have to trick us out of what little we keep...

Right. That's a trick cons use. They usually spoof bank sites, e-bay, and other financial sites. The email looks just like it came from the legit outfit, but redirects to a phoney site that collects the info. The collection site looks like, or similar to, the real one. Some are better than others and the better ones can't be traced easily, because they hijack personal pcs to cover their tracks and the main outfit is located in the land of podunk.
They spam billions and make a profit on the small percentage of folks that fall for the con and give them the requested info. No one at the DNC did this and if there's anything to it, there will be more than 1 complaint.

I had a very interesting experience when clicking the links in post 131. When I went to the post after spunkets pointed it out, my browser went to https://www.democrats.org/support/supportdnc.html
However, I had already had this site open in another window because SDR had posted the address and I was checking it out.
I closed all my browser windows and opened FR in a new window and went back to post #131. This time, the links took me to the swift vets site. I opened https://www.democrats.org/support/supportdnc.html in a separate window and the links did not change.
So, I went to https://www.democrats.org/support/supportdnc.html from the FR window and then when using the back button on my browser to reload the FR site, the DNC link now appears again in post #131.

Nevermind, appears that spunkets took Nick Danger's post and edited it. I got snookered.

You probably clicked on Nick's real email(#128) to get to swiftvets. If you hover your mouse over the links in #131, you'll see swiftvets in a little box, but the browser status bar shows the DNC link. Clicking the links in #131 will always get you to DNC.
