As long as the weather is nice, Noah Smialek, 5, can be found out on his front lawn selling magnetic yellow ribbons to passers-by.
"Sometimes when they go by, I say, 'Magnets for sale. We support our troops,' and they stop and come back," Smialek said.
Smialek got into the business with help from his grandfather, Don Smialek, who has been selling the magnetic ribbons from his office on Main Street. Don Smialek's son is a member of the 197th Field Artillery unit and was deployed to Iraq in January.
Don Smialek said selling the ribbons is a way for his grandson to show how much he cares for the troops.
"He just decided he'd like to try it, and now he is dedicated to it," Don Smialek said.
Noah Smialek keeps regular hours, and people now know where to find him.
"Right after school or on school days I get off I do it right when I get up," he said.
The money raised helps support troops' families at home, and some of it will help pay for care packages for the troops around the holidays. So far, the Smialeks have raised more than $6,000 for the cause. Copyright 2004 by TheWMURChannel. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.

Can't both of you see that this is bad. It's all President Bush's fault. The economy is so bad that this young boy has been forced to sell ribbons so his family can eat. And on top of that, I bet they don't have healthcare. This is just deplorable! :) Hehe! I'm just kidding!
This is a great story. Good news bump!
