McCarthy was a Marine, not a soldier.

All humanity is of one Author, and is one volume; when one dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated; God employs several translators; some pieces are translated by age, some by sickness, some by war, some by justice; but Gods hand is in every translation, and his hand shall bind up all our scattered leaves again for that library where every book shall lie open to one another.

"Let his death not be in vain."
Not one of them is. They are never forgotten. It hurts everytime you hear of another. It is the soldiers job to risk all. I wish it werent. They are the best this country has. I hope that the final victory and end to this war in Iraq is close. Through the sacrifice these people make for the rest of us, I know that it is.

McCarthy was a Marine, not a soldier. Sometimes a mistake needs to be ignored.

"McCarthy was a Marine, not a soldier."Sorry for the correction, but according to official Marine Corps tradition, Marines are "Soldiers of the Sea."

re: "I swear to God I'd be there if I could"
I told my wife just this morning that I would happily trade places with our 20-year-old grandson who is a Marine in Iraq, probably in or near Fallujah. I I could wave a magic wand and exchange places with Chris I would do it in a heartbeat. Sadly, there's not much for an overweight, sedentary social security recipient to do over there. I do the next best thing though, I stay here and pray constantly for the safety of our troops and wisdom for our President and especially for protection from the Kerry-ites who would put him in control if they could.
