What is the downside in your opinion?
I am absolutely, positively sure the Bush camp not only is well prepared to revisit this bogus issue, but looking forward to playing yet another card.
I don't know what that card is, but I'm betting it's there.
The Globe is the same outfit that has one of it's reporters working on Kerry's and the DNC's payroll.
I can give you an example from my own record. I took Firefighter Instructor Training, and that requires a special physical. I completed the training, however I decided NOT to pursue being a Firefighter Instructor (I was needed elsewhere) ...hence I never reported for the next FF Instructor Physical, a much more comprehensive physical (much like a pilot) than for a regular reserve...it was NOT needed.
When Bush stopped flying, he did not need the much longer version of "the hurry up and wait" physical.
If I had run for public office (bite my tongue) they would have accused me of missing my physical.
Yep I read that earlier and if that is all there is it just shows Bush in a better light than not.
FILE AN FOI....tell them that you want Kerry's military records....all of them...and his medical records that relate to that time as well.
Then take those records to the press. Call Newsmax. Call somebody at the New York Post and Washington Times.

Well let's see, he missed 2 drills between 1968 and 1973 according to that report. Let's concede the point. He still spent more time in uniform active duty than Kerry and there are NO records of Kerry fulfilling his ready reserve commitments after his own early out.
I think all the MSM outlets will milk this for all its worth. We're 60 days out, it's a tough, tight race and the Left has been successful in making the economy seem like the Great Depression. With the 1,000th death in iraq, things are getting really tight. The MSM is totally in the tank for Kerry. A rehash of Bush's NG, Kitty Kelly's book and Bob Graham's new 'Bush is protecting the Saudis' book (which fits in nicely with Moore's nutty worldview) is a lot to deal with 60 days out. We better have a good strategy.
In addition, I love Cheney, but what he said today in Iowa (thought 150% true) is bad politics.
All in all, we got a lot of crap coming our way.I just hope that the Swiftees keep pounding him and that Team Bush has some firepower to go after this traitor. I really, really don't want him elected.

OK, I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. Let's say that the President WAS AWOL. How many soldiers died because of it? On the other hand, how many soldiers died because of Kerry's lies about war crimes? I'm waiting for somebody to make this case.
Well, the headline is grabbing. What we must do is make sure that Kerry's files are released. It would also be great if we could get Fox Broadcast channel to run a Swiftee special in the next two months. We need to apply pressure.
In a good way, with Bush's being out, Kerry will have to turn over all of His records. I'd like to know that Kerry was still in Naval reserves when he met with the Vietcong. That interests me a great deal. We need the traitor's records out on the table.

And what about Kerry's reserve obligations?? We need Lurch's records. has the MSM made any attemot to get them???

Bush and the National Guard: Case Closed
The records indicate that, despite his move to Alabama, Bush met his obligation to the Guard in the 1972-73 year. At that time, Guardsmen were awarded points based on the days they reported for duty each year. They were given 15 points just for being in the Guard, and were then required to accumulate a total of 50 points to satisfy the annual requirement. In his first four years of service, Bush piled up lots of points; he earned 253 points in his first year, 340 in his second, 137 in his third, and 112 in his fourth. For the year from May 1972 to May 1973, records show Bush earned 56 points, a much smaller total, but more than the minimum requirement (his service was measured on a May-to-May basis because he first joined the Guard in that month in 1968).

It is a common misconception that the Air National Guard was a safe place for military duty during the Vietnam War. In actuality, pilots from the 147th Fighter Interceptor Group, as it was called at the time, were actually conducting combat missions in Vietnam at the very time Bush enlisted. In fact, F-102 squadrons had been stationed in South Vietnam since March 1962.
