Russia held Chechen families: Rebels' relatives seized as they slept - Chechens Good/Russians Bad
Boston Globe / LA Times ^ | 9.7.2004 | Kim Murphy

It was 6 a.m. when Russian soldiers hoisted themselves over the wall, crashed through the window, and broke down the front door......Altogether, an estimated 40 family members of senior Chechen rebel leaders were assembled at Khankala from Thursday, a day after the hostage seizure in Beslan, until Saturday, the day after it ended.

Semiyev's daughter, Kusama, is the wife of Chechen separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov. Around him were suddenly assembled the entire extended families of Maskhadov, the former Chechen president, and of Chechen warlords Shamil Basayev and Doku Umarov. Maskhadov's brother was in the tent where the men were kept, and in a nearby building with the women and children, his elderly sister. A 5-month-old baby proved to be a distant relative of one of the rebel leaders.

Maskhadov's spokesman in London, Akhmad Zakayev, said ''They were following the standard practice developed almost a century ago by the Bolsheviks and carried on by Stalin, who believed that every single act of terror should be responded to by an even bigger, more horrendous, more terrifying terrorist act," Zakayev said. ''According to this practice, it is necessary to shock terrorists, and let them know that under no condition will you agree to negotiate with them."

[ snip ]

''There were people making very frightening comments about us [the family detainees] like, 'They should be turned into ashtrays.' I don't know what turning a person into an ashtray means, but it sounds very menacing," Abdul-Kadyrova said.

Do we really care what words the inane press chooses to use?

We know the press is against conservatism, has hate for President Bush, promotes propaganda and will always find fault with any action taken by a Republican president.

How big a deal is a word - hostage-taker or terrorist?

We have no control over the words they use - so, we just find and develop the alternative sources of news - the internet, our email lists, talk radio, letters to the editors, etc.

....The great canard in current thinking is that by brutal actions we become like our enemies...

So, this means no war?

This is merely a statement from anti-war proponents and we should in no way allow it to color our decisions.

With this statement, under indian attack, the settlers must wave flags and seek to negotiate. Wonder how that would have ended.

With this statement, the attack on Pearl Harbor would have been meet with negotiations or a discussion with all other nations as to how the U.S. should react - wonder how that would have ended.

With this statement, Hitler's assault would have been met with negotiations or a blind eye. Wonder how that would have ended.

With this statement, the slaughter of the Russian children would be met with negotiations and any endeavor to prevent another assault no matter what had to be surrendered. Wonder how that would end.

This:

"[The] ancients were honest enough to admit to, and practice, the ruthless extermination that is needed in the
face of implacable, inhuman enemies. We can do no less if we wish to survive."

...is my view - NOT the failed ideology I refer to.

I think yall misunderstand. I wasn't talking about Russia. I was saying that whatever the Chechens believed that the Russians had previously done, that nothing justified this type of retaliation and that they had crossed a line from soldiers to terrorists. I wasn't commenting on how Russia handling this attack.

Agreed. Nagasaki and Hiroshima saved lives and was the civil and least painful approach in the end.

So, on the demented planet where liberals live, putting panties on someone's head is the equivalent of murdering defenseless children? These people vote?

Yep, for Kerry.

War is a sad reality of human nature. To believe otherwise is to invite the sword.

How come these family members were not kept captive. How come more research of the school terrorists isn't be done and their families/clans/tribes killed off? I hope such efforts are being made.

Maybe it was partly a warning to the Islamofascists and maybe it was partly to curtail the international flack that international sympathizer nations (like our RATs) would generate. In this way, Putin could still pursue the bad guys and kill them off while still looking reasonably humanitarian. In the event of another attack down the line, the moon god klan would know that their families maybe up for grabs too. Just a guess.

How about all the Chechnyan prisoners that they demanded freedom for during the school takeover? Nothing has been done to them but 300+ Russians were murdered by the hostage takers.

Muhammad approved of hostage taking and ransoming them, using them as bargaining chips. It's all in the KKKoran. These Chechnyan psychos merely emulate their prophet as the KKKoran commands them to do. The life of Muhammad is put forth as the most exemplary ever lived, one that all Muhammadans must copy.

As the menace grows clearer, I think we may see the sharpening of a lot of lines - all around the world. There are many in Europe that despise what their weak and treasonous leaders have done and are doing to destroy their countries. Their counterparts here, RATs, seem to be in deep doo-doo at present. We shall see...
