Peterson trial resumes with focus on surveillance, DNA
September 6, 2004
REDWOOD CITY Scott Peterson acted the part of a guilty man, even repeatedly visiting the marina where police allege he dumped his dead wife's body while authorities scoured San Francisco Bay for her remains, prosecutors contend.

Lee Peterson, father of Scott Peterson, and his wife Jackie Peterson leave the San Mateo County Courthouse in Redwood City, after a day of testimony from seven wittnesses in the Scott Peterson double murder trial.
It's all part of a circumstantial case that is moving into its 15th week as prosecutors try to convince jurors to convict Peterson for the alleged premeditated murder of his eight-months pregnant wife, Laci, and their fetus in December 2002.
Prosecutors have yet to show jurors a murder weapon or a cause of death and have no witnesses who saw Peterson do the deed.
The double-murder trial is set to resume Tuesday after a week of testimony from police officers who tailed Peterson between Jan. 3 and Jan. 11, 2003. They say Peterson drove erratically and acted as if he was attempting to elude authorities at times, which they say is not the behavior of an innocent.
Defense lawyers claim Peterson made the trips to the Berkeley Marina where he launched what he claims was a solo fishing trip the day Laci vanished simply out of concern for his wife, and that his erratic driving was because Peterson thought he was being tailed by reporters...
Twelve men and women receive a pittance each day to weigh Scott Peterson's fate

REDWOOD CITY -- Billionaire Oprah Winfrey earned $51 for three days of jury duty in Cook County, Ill. last week -- less than she makes every 10 seconds.
Three months into the Scott Peterson trial, jurors have earned $735 -- what most make in a week, based on profiles compiled earlier this year during jury selection interviews.
Subtract $10 for lunch and return-trip mileage -- jurors are only reimbursed $.34 per mile for one way of their commute -- and their daily earnings shrink to $5.
For those jurors buoyed by fantasies of striking it rich once the trial ends, jury consultant Karen Fleming-Ginn advises them not to count their royalty checks just yet.
"I don't think anybody is thinking they're going to make money off of this," she said. "Unless there was something really earth-shattering that happened in the deliberation room ... people who are really interested in the intricacies of a trial like that would want to hear it from one of the attorneys." .......

Trial focus shifts to hair found on Scott's boat
Prosecution aims to prove through DNA findings that strands were Laci Peterson's
By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER
REDWOOD CITY -- Testimony in the Scott Peterson double-murder trial turns technical this week, as the prosecution's focus shifts to the DNA analysis of their only physical evidence--hairs found in the Modesto man's fishing boat.
In a capital murder case with no cause of death, murder weapon or crime scene, the prosecution hopes the strands of hair will convince the jury that Peterson used his boat to dispose of his pregnant wife's body.
Investigators searching Peterson's warehouse found the hairs attached to needle-nose pliers under a seat in the boat he took out on San Francisco Bay Dec. 24, 2002 -- the day Laci Peterson disappeared.
The bodies of Laci and their unborn fetus washed up on the Bay shore four months later.
The two strands of hair are the .........

Medical examiner Vincent DiMaio looks at the autopsy evidence
July 7, 2004
Court TV Host: Discuss the autopsy in the Laci Peterston case with Dr. Vincent DiMaio, medical examiner for Bexar County, Texas, who reviewed the medical evidence for Catherine Crier Live. Our guest, Dr. Vincent DiMaio, is here! Welcome, Dr. DiMaio.
Vincent DiMaio: Hello.
Question from UbuPearl: Dr. DiMaio - very interesting report on Crier you gave. What autopsy findings were you privy to? Pictures or pictures and reports? Did CTV contract you to review these reports or was it an independent study?
Vincent DiMaio: I examined the autopsy reports, topology reports, and the photos. All Court TV asked me to do was look at the materials and give my unbiased opinion.
Question from jemi: Doctor, were you able to determine a cause of death?
Vincent DiMaio: The exact cause of death cannot be determined because of decomposition. There was evidence that she was beaten. Usually in this case, it's beating and strangulation.
Question from the_asp: Could the tape around Conner be some of the tape, among other items, that were used to hold Laci to anchors, and as Conner floated by her, it got wrapped around him?
Vincent DiMaio: Probably not, because where he had emerged there would have been extensive decomposition, and any tape would have been lost.
Question from michelle: Did they every find Laci's head or limbs?
Vincent DiMaio: No. They probably sank to the bed of the bay and are covered in mud by now.
Question from ladymgr: Dr. DiMaio do you feel that Laci could have been murdered on the eve of 23rd........

Hubby and I went to Lake Tahoe again. We were going to take the boat, but the winds Friday were bad throughout the Bay Area. So we suspected the same at Tahoe. Nope!! Picture perfect. Only that recently some morons are tagging the lake side huge rocks, and other park settings with gang type tagging. I sent an email to Region 5 where we were at, wanting to come back up there this weekend to remove it. Maybe they might do it!! But got another sunburn....lol...And I had sunblocker on too! I guess I stayed out in the sun too long even though it was about 78 degrees. Went to South Shore Tahoe for dinner, it was extremely packed with people and the waiting time was upwards of 45 mins. We chose Bill's Casino and there was on the menu a whopping 22 oz steak dinner for 14.99. You couldn't even eat 1/4 of it! Doggie bag!!! Then it was off to Cal-Neva and played on the Monte Carlo machine. Hubby won back dinner!!! It was great time. Hope everyone had a nice Happy Labor Day.... Your's was great?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TIJERAS SLIM!
Happy Birthday!!!!!!!
