Islam-list
If people want on or off this list, please let me know.
Yes, we know.
I agree, knighthawk, but even on FR people can't agree that this should be done--out of fear of harming "innocents." Alas, in every war, innocents die. It looks like it's going to be a case of "our innocents, or their innocents."
"Noble faith?"
No, Mary, these atrocities are committed by the ones WHO DO BELIEVE THE "TENETS OF THAT NOBLE FAITH!"
It's been said that an isalmic fundamentalist will kill you, a "moderate" moslem just wants you dead. That's one of the reasons that islam was declared illegal in the U.S. in 1892. (Of course, that was an age where there was more spiritual awareness than we have today.)
Otherwise, a pretty good article.
Dear Principal:
The children of Beslan need our help. They need to know that children of other nations care about them. Some time ago, President Bush had asked for donations to the Iraqi children. Now, we should do the same for the children of Beslan.
Can we please ask for donations so that the children can have their school rebuilt? My sisters and I have included money from our allowances and would like to send this to the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the USA, to the victims of Beslan attack, 2650 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington DC 20007.
To the Children of Beslan:
We are the children of St. Thomas. Even though we speak a different language, live in a different nation, and may have a different religion, we are children like you, and we care about what happened to you, your school, and fellow classmates. We would like to make a difference by helping you. Please accept our contribution toward rebuilding your school. When we graduate, we can work together to make the world a safer place.
Your brothers and Sisters,
The Children of St. Thomas
"...one of the world's great religions...."
Only in terms of numbers of adherents, not in terms of doctrine, ideology or anything else that makes a religion great.
They are a minority who have hijacked one of the world's great religions and now besmirch the tenets of that noble faith
Well, no. They didn't hijack it. This is like saying that radical Nazis hijacked one of the world's great political movements and now besmirch the tenets of a noble cause. See, poor ol' Hitler was really a man of peace and love.
Of course, I'm being sarcastic. But terrorism is as much a part of is-slime as the various excesses are part of nazism. To call is-slime "noble" is nonsense.
