Many newspapers and wire services around the world refuse to label anyone a terrorist. Even the suicidal men and women who strapped on bombs and took an entire Russian school hostage a few days ago are called militants, separatists and rebels.
The standoff turned tragic Friday when shooting started and some of the children ran for it and were shot in the back. Parents everywhere were horrified by the high death toll. Any school would be vulnerable to an armed gang of determined killers. President Bush correctly called it a ``grim reminder of the length to which terrorists will go to threaten this civilized world.''
A militant is someone willing to fight for a cause, in this case independence for Chechnya. Militants who kill child hostages for political reasons are terrorists - damned terrorists.
Terrorists sanctioned by the law of our land to murder children, are called Abortion providers.
Let's put the phrase used for abusing Vietnam vets -- "Baby Killers" -- back where it rightfully belongs: on the heads of these scum like these.
Your post about you in-laws brings up an interesting point about Mr. Kerry. Kerry comes back from Vietnam, and makes the accusation under oath that the majority of US soldiers who served there were guilty of atrocities and war crimes. In his own words, they "behaved like the armies of Genghis Khan."
Fast-forward 32 years. Last I checked (about 16 hours ago), John Kerry had yet to condemn those who carried out the horrific barbarity in Southern Russia last week. Your PC in-laws should go and view the photos of dead children and their parents stacked like cordwood, the mother straightening the haor of her murdered boy, the rows of black vinyl body bags that look empty at first glance - until you notice that the bags are too big for the battered bodies of little children, many shot in the back while trying to flee. Where's the outrage now, Mr. Kerry?
That is partly what upsets me about the news.. what is not being covered or how it is being covered. Most all of my news comes from FreeRepublic and talk radio, but I had not heard any new news about the "hostage takers" terrorists that got away.
It's just heart wrenching to see the grief of those mothers and fathers and to see those precious children laid out
in coffins. The in-laws main source for news is NPR and they probably don't even know it was Islamic terrorists.
I've heard my inlaws express
concern over civilian deaths in Afganistan,but never our soldiers.
Never heard them say how horrible 9/11 was...just said we need to reach out more to the rest of the world.I've heard their anger at Americans who boycotted France.They defend Islam. They express concern over illegal aliens who are not getting enough of our tax money. I've heard my brother-in-law disparage people who listen to Rush. They are so smug and superior I can hardly stand it.
Most of them,but not all are supposedly anti abortion, but can somehow justify voting for Kerry, a candidate who voted against banning the barbaric partial birth abortion everytime it came up for a vote. They know that, but don't care.
It's hard to be around them. They seem to stand for everything I despise.
Oh my gosh,it's so hard to be around touchy feely, liberal socialists, even if they are family. Sometimes it takes my brain a while to catch up and get the full impact of things they say.they're so unbelieveable. I mostly sit in stunned silence and try not to embarrass
my spouse and start World War III.
Animals.
Sub-humans.
Demons.
Muslims.
I agree lets call them Muslims.
