So if they pay me $10 a day for jury duty, that's slavery, and bailiff should be shot?

So if I pay the kid next door $3 to wash my car, and it takes him an hour (he's 8 years old), then it's slavery and I should be shot?

So if the public library pays my sister (who is 60 years old, with the mental capacity of a 10 year old) $3/hour to process incoming books (put the library card sticker on them and move them from the boxes to a shelf, a job for which she is actually qualified), then that's slavery and the librarian should be shot?

No ...

Slavery is not detemined by the dollar amount, and it's not freedom for the Federal government to mandate, across the nation and across all circumstances, that paying any dollar amount between one cent and six dollars is illegal. Upping the punishment to death doesn't make it more free.

Perhaps Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot,Idi Amin or Saddam would like your line of reasoning (calling it 'reasoning' is being a bit too kind).

I should shut up now - your reply was not worthy of a response.

The "bilingual" (=Spanish, not French, German, Italian, Russian...whatever) requirement is all over the government jobs on the central coast.

It's historic. The people of a supposed democracy are being physically deprived of their land and nation by the government they elected to serve them.

As Hans Hoppe said, "Democracy: The God That Failed".

I expect to vote for Bush DESPITE this stupid plank, certainly NOT in support of it!

This reminds me, time to fax my congressman and senator in opposition to this, the L.O.S.T. treaty, and any chance of the AW Ban being renewed.

No doubt. In the southwest, I'd say 10 percent of the employers hiring management and supervisor type positions now demand bilingual Spanish, since the greedy SOBs have hired so many illegals. Of all the immigrants that have come to America has welcomed legally over the past 250 years, we now are being forced to adapt to the Mexican language.

It's a sell out.

No doubt. I will be voting for Bush this time around.

But only because I believe it is crucial for Kerry not to be President.

Depending on how the Lame Duck acts when he's re-elected...

I probably won't support a major party again, until they start listening.

LOL! The thought did occur to me...for about five seconds. Too Boy Scout to participate in deceptions, thus ruling out any future in politics or used vehicle sales.

You should read their entire platform. Overall it represents a long-needed return to responsible government, but the existing system is so screwed now some of it's just unworkable. On the other hand, these position papers are goals to strive for and not holy law set in stone.

Take care and always pass on the fugu.

"President Bush has proposed a new temporary worker program that applies when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs."

According to his assistant, "this is a concept that can apply broadly." In other words, it would not just be open to serf laborers. See "Bush immigration plan could affect techies" http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1103_2-5143807.html?tag=tu.cssblog.7804

"It would allow men and women who enter the program to apply for citizenship in the same manner as those who apply from outside the United States."

Those people would, for the most part, be illegal aliens...

"There must be strong workplace enforcement with tough penalties against employees and employers who violate immigration laws."

In the first five months of this year, just *one* company in the whole U.S. was fined for immigration violations.

"We oppose amnesty because it would have the effect of encouraging illegal immigration and would give an unfair advantage to those who have broken our laws."

Insert definition of 'doublespeak' [here].

Your examples are what were ridiculous.

Do you believe that illegal aliens are being hired to wash cars, do jury duty and put library books away?

Who do you think you're kidding?

Nobody is trying to support themselves, let alone a family, on what they make while serving on a jury. That's performing one's civic duty.

The jobs that illegal aliens are stealing from Americans are in the construction, meat packing, landscaping, truck-driving, manufacturing, etc. industries.

Nobody in their 'Right' mind wants to see Americans reduced to being paid $3.00 an hour for these jobs, so that these business owners can reap huge profits, while they force these workers to receive their health care in emergency rooms at U.S. Taxpayer expense.

It's $200 to $300 just to walk into most emergency rooms.

As has been pointed out on these immigration threads before, these business owners are out to privatize their profits and socialize their costs.

Last year 44 million workers in America made so little income that they paid no NET income taxes.

Following your brilliant economic policies, that number will grow to possibly 100 million? Will that make you happy?

You'd have them and their families then receiving their health care in our nation's ER rooms at $300 dollars plus per visit and at U.S. taxpayer's expense?

Please think, again.

I have and you're right about shooting these tightwad employers of illegal aliens.

Shooting's too good for them. ;^)

Good.

If we removed the several dollar per hour incentive to hire illegals for these positions, then the immigration problem would get much less severe.

I'd sooner find my freedom in the free market, then in government imposed brutality trying to enforce remedies to its own socialist policies.

Why don't you try, one more time, to put aside your obvious hatred, and read my initial post - the one explaining how the minimum wage and mandated payroll taxes make this illegal immigrant situation much worse.

"If you really are a Christian conservative, then you would realize the MOST important thing happening in the next 4 years is 2, 3, or possibly 4 Supreme Court justices retiring and being replaced."

If you really are a Christian, you'd realize that President Bush has as little control over SCOTUS justice seating as he does the tides. Short of death or disabling circumstances, there is no way under the sun a liberal justice will retire to knowingly allow a "conservative" nominee to potentially take his/her place. The health and life of those justices are in the hands of the Good Master - not Pres. Bush and it is only He who grants the President the influence over the courts.

Believe it or not, the justices have themselves politicized the SCOTUS makeup by delaying their inevitable "retirements" to occur only when the nominating executive may hold similar convictions to their's.

Just wanted to make clear that I'm not encouraging people to vote for the Constitution Party (unless they live in a state totally locked up by the Democrats, in which case they should). The purpose was to illustrate how far off track the Republican leadership has strayed from traditional principles. Despite was Azhenfud said in post #92 (or building on it), the Supreme Court is made up of aged mortals whose replacements will determine its direction for the next generation, and the chances are great that whoever is President during the next few years (the neocon or the Leftist traitor) will bully-pulpit their replacements. One Ginsburg is already one too many.

I agreed with your well-stated post up to a point:

We started a war based on lies which has now fomented world wide hatred around the world. It is right to fight terrorism but let us hit the correct targets, ie Saudi Arabia. Afterall weren't 18 of the 19 hijackers Saudis? We blindly back Israel's illegal settlements and "Berlin Wall". Despite what people are saying the reason why the Arab world hates us is because of our unconditional backing of what Israel does, right or wrong.

I don't see lies so much as jumping in on shoddy information. Pop's failure to get the job done seems to have gnawed the son's guts for years. It was a job that needed finishing and it worked out brilliantly as a flytrap for Islamist fanatics better off in "paradise". Admit it - the world hates us anyway so we might as well add "winning our military objectives" to their list of grievances. The Arab world will always hate us as long as they are under the thrall of Islam and we are not under the "Caliphate".

Yes, the Saudis need to go down hard. Perhaps their own Frankenstein's monster of Wahhabism will accomplish that.

If it weren't for the Israelis WE would be the primary focus of jihad. Beyond that strategic usefulness, my Protestant side says we have an obligation to see that His chosen people continue surviving. We came close to failing that during a little dust-up about 60 years back. As they say - Never Again.

The Israeli wall is common sense self defense. What would you propose we should do if the Mexicans randomly blew themselves up taking innocent citizens out in the process? The invasion alone is enough reason for us to put a better barrier system in place.

Did you know that the corrupt hypocrisy in the UN is proposing (perhaps already building) an extensive wall through Eastern Europe for "economic stability" while denouncing Israel's? This is the organization that the Democrats want us to defer to in all things.

I think you're right. I can easily imagine the left-leaning judges hanging on for at least another four years.

Your initial post will never make any sense.

Your so-called minimum wage solution requires the U.S. Taxpayers to pick up the tab for all the social services that would be required by all of the tens of millions of these underpaid workers and their families.

Your suggestions are madness.

Sorry, no sale.

Is there really any chance real conservatives will take back the GOP? It seems hopeless sometimes. If Bush wasnt pandering to illegals and cheap labor he would win in a landslide victory. He will still win but if he closed up the borders and put a moratorium on immigration he would have HUGE support. Even from demoncats. Of course this is all in fantasy world....

Welcome to Amerimexico!

The Mexibuttlican Party.

There's only one thing you have to do to join. Can you guess what it is? ;^)
