Did Bush Miss Vietnam's Lessons?

WEST ALLIS, Wis., Sept. 3 -- President Bush and Democrat John F. Kerry entered the final stage of the White House race Friday with the incumbent savoring a successful convention week and the challenger faulting Bush for presiding over a loss of jobs.

At the unofficial start of the fall campaign, the two sides squabbled over a Labor Department report, released in the morning, showing that 144,000 jobs were created in August while the overall unemployment rate ticked downward -- a performance that was better than July's level but slightly below the number of new jobs that economists had expected. Democrats pointed out that the economy would need to add 150,000 jobs monthly just to keep pace with population growth.

Speaking to about 100 neighbors on one of his "front porch" visits on an overcast morning in Newark, Ohio, Kerry said that even with the August gain the nation had still lost 1.6 million jobs since Bush took office -- 230,000 of which were in Ohio -- and that Bush would be the first president since the Depression to face reelection without a net gain in jobs.

"Did Bush Miss Vietnam's Lessons?"

No. The President and his father delivered a one-two punch to that old "Viet Nam" bogeyman, each with one hand tied behind his back and the domineering wife (Hillary) of a feminized old hippie freak between them.

Kerry said that even with the August gain the nation had still lost 1.6 million jobs since Bush took office --

What orifice does Kerry pull his 'facts' out of. The job loss number is under 1 million. And that doesn't count the millions of people who are now self employed.

If you look really really close, you can see John Kerry's Swiftboat on the Tigris Delta.

The lesson of Viet Nam is that you beat the American Army by attacking the political will to continue the fight. And you do that by political action in the US. Your weapons are journalists, PR firms, Hollywood propagandists, frustrated academics, and opportunistic and weak willed politicians.

Win the war there and you don't have to win it in the field.

"Doesn't count the number of self-employed".

Which makes the total number of job increases during the Bush admin over two million. This inconvenient fact is almost totally ignored by Big Media. I was floored recently when my old anti-Bush hometown rag The La Crosse (Wis) Tribune actually printed a column by a researcher who revealed those numbers. According to liberals, realtors, consultants, home-repair types, people who work at home through their computers, and a host of other non-factory job holders really do not have jobs. Naturally if Gore were in office with the same employment stats as Bush has, the Household Survey would be well known to the general public.

Didn't Bubba tell us yesterday we're not supposed to be talking about VietNam anymore!

Well, at least he told Kerry, and WaPo is doing him a big favor by running a story about VietNam. Weird.

It's about fifty miles into Vietnam, apparently.
