Kerry Reshapes Campaign Democratic Nominee Taps Two Veteran Party Strategists for Top Roles

Sept. 5 -- Under fire to shape up his presidential campaign, Democratic challenger John F. Kerry on Sunday tapped two veteran party strategists from Boston to assume top roles in an operation that has been criticized by Democratic allies for allowing President Bush to regain the initiative in the battle for the White House. Campaign officials said John Sasso... will now become the senior Kerry adviser aboard the candidate's traveling charter until the election... Kerry advisers described the moves as long planned and part of an overall effort to put the strongest possible team together for the final 60 days of the campaign.

This is the guy who dreamed up the "Massachusetts miracle" gimmick for Dukakis, only then Dukaksis had to fire him for coming up with the famous Biden "attack video." See link: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/frenzy/biden.htm

Newsweek: "Nobody has sharper elbows than John Sasso," says Michael Goldman, a former Boston political consultant. "He can hit as hard as the Republican hit machine." Yeah Sasso can hit Democrats real hard as long as they have their backs turned. Goldman is a former political consultant because everybody he ever consulted with lost. But he's always been a go to guy when a left leaning reporter needs a quote with just the right spin.

Isn't it Rush who says that the bigger the failure the more you get promotions in Democrat politics. I mean really, just look at Jimmy Carter.

How many times will this loser--and he will lose--re-create his campaign?

Surrender now, cut your losses. Maybe Bush will look kindly to you and hand you the job you've always wanted, Ambassador to France.

Well, I found this WISDOM on that other site:

Is It Wrong To Say Kerry Is Screwing This Up?

I have seen many posts freaking out that people would dare be concerned over the current state of the campaign. While I can understand anyone saying "It's over" is not worth listening to, simply accepting the status quo is NOT GOOD ENOUGH. We need to strategies and focus w/ laser like intensity on that strategy or we may be screwed.

I think kerry may have relied on the ABB sentiment for way too long. That was bound to collapse as soon as Shrub got in front of the country at the convention and convinced people he wasn't the antichrist.

Unfortuantely, I think we need to make Shrub into the antichrist again. Obviously this thing will now hinge on the debates. And Kerry will have to DESTROY shrub in the debates (as well as shrub making a fool out of himself) to such an extent that even the media can't declare shrub the winner.

I honestly think this election is now in the hands of Kerry and his advisors. Certainly not us. Kerry has made it hard for me to sell him. Sure I can say why Bush must go, but I can't make an argument for Joe Idiot as to why Kerry is a far superior choice to Shrub.

Honestly, I think even Gore did a better job than Kerry is doing. This is scary.

PS - I am NOT a f**king(edited by me) 'infiltrator' or any such nonsense, so paranoid fellow DUers please save it. I really just want a real assessment and discussion of the situation and not claims the the 'polls are rigged' or that 'it will all fade' - WE CAN'T COUNT ON THAT.

Is this ANOTHER re-org?

Two in one week?

Without bothering to hit the WP site,
are either of the new names ex-Clinton,
or is Kerry finally taking control now
that Bill is side-lined?

In a column titled "Wrong Man for Kerry" even the Boston Globe admits that Sasso's "one of the least trustworthy Democratic strategists to come out of Boston."

You would think the Dems would have learned the lesson of trusting a female campaign manager to get the job done.

Brazille in 2000 and Cahill in 2004.

Don't they have a real man in that party?
