Sasso Wrong man for Kerry
Boston Globe ^ | September 5, 2004 | Eileen McNamara

Posted on 09/05/2004 4:35:59 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

...........If Kerry wants to fight dirty against a Bush team that has gotten away with slinging mud across two presidencies, that's his choice. But no more whining, then, about the distortions of his military career. No more laments about how the media never focus on the issues. To choose Sasso is to choose the tactics Kerry claims to abhor.

On the other hand, if Kerry decides at this critical juncture to change the subject from the past to the future, he need rely on no one but himself. Is he as outraged as most Americans about health insurance, the cost of which is making young and old choose between food and medical care? Is he as worried as most parents about the quality of public education? Is he as frightened as most Americans about the course of the war on terrorism, the results of which have seen a resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, chaos in the Mideast, and peace far from secure in Iraq?

.........Forget Vietnam; how is he going to get out of Iraq? How is he going to protect us from terrorists and still preserve our civil liberties? How is he going to return an economy bent on serving corporate slavemasters to serving the men and women who make it hum? How is he going to bridge a racial divide that has landed more young black men in prison than at any other time in our history?

............... One thing is certain: John Sasso will not help him. On Labor Day weekend 16 years ago, with his campaign foundering and the Bush machine taking huge bites out of his support, Michael Dukakis brought John Sasso back to rescue his presidential bid. He lost 40 states.

The only winning Democrat political campaign advisors are Carvile and Buggala. Hitlery told them they couldn't play this time, but they can in 2008! ;-)

My goodness - Kerry's bringing in Sasso? This is all just too good to be true. Dukakis did the same thing when he got in trouble, and he went down the toilet after that.

It almost seems like Kerry is intentionally trying to lose. Regardless, I hope we turn the pressure up and win all 50 states. MANDATE BABY!

"Is he as worried as most parents about the quality of public education?" Earth to Eileen McNamara, Kerry cannot touch public education because it is controlled by Dims.

"How is he going to return an economy bent on serving corporate slavemasters to serving the men and women who make it hum?" Earth to Eileen McNamara, if Kerry will present openly communist agenda, he will lose 70/30, even among the Dims the majority is not that stupid.

Another Liberal moron. KERRY chose to focus solely upon Vietnam. Now he's stuck with it as his record is shown to be a pack of lies.

50 states? Never. Kerry's going to carry Massachusetts and Saudi Arabia, with large mail in votes from North Korea, Hanoi, Cuba, Somalia, and both Chechnya and West Chechnya( France ).

re: "It almost seems like Kerry is intentionally trying to lose"

I asked the other day, is it even remotely possible that Kerry is being paid to throw this fight? I don't think a person could run a campaign as badly unless they were doing it on purpose! Although liberals do seem to have a knack for getting it wrong. Someone, maybe Ronald Regan, said a few years ago that if our enemies had set out to destroy our educational system they could not have done a better job than the liberals and NEA had done in the name of improving it. I don't want ANYTHING to take our focus off the coming election. I feel that we're opening up a lead and would hate for us to become smug, cocky and overconfident, but the moment the votes are counted we need to set about making our Hillary Voodoo Dolls. We're going to need a lot of them come 2008!

Someone should call out Kerry to provide specific details on how he will be able to pull significant troops out of Iraq in 6 months, or is it just a total lie to win votes.

If Karl Rove and company can turn Kerry's distinguished military service and principled opposition to the Vietnam War..

I've read enough...

How about some decent minority leadership that leads their young people, rather than demagogue them for political power, play them for endless victimhood, always blame others, never accept responsibility???

Ok I hear this all the time on the left. Has anyone ever had to make this choice. Don't get me wrong, health care is getting getting out of hand but I grew up poor and worked my way through 8 years of college and I always had both food and health insurance. I didn't have cable, I didn't have a great place to live, I didn't have a nice car, I didn't go out to eat or anywhere else but I always had food and health insurance. Maybe this is just my experience but I don't ever remember making this choice.

Clueless in Boston, as usual. Kerry is the author of smear in this campaign, not the follower.

Banal in Boston?

This article is beyond pathetic.

Liberals are so desperate and so delusional.

I am glad that those Liberals are our opponents.

One of the BIG reasons that Kerry has tanked in the polls is because of the Swiftees killer ads!

You can bet the DemocRAT 'smear the Swiftees' campaign will be kicked up to a whole new level now.

Support for the Swiftees is crucial right now, so they can get these ads on the air on REGULAR TV in battleground states.

FReepers are key in getting the word out about the righteousness of the SBVFT by exposing Kerry's FRAUD.

These Swiftee window stickers get the word out to the driving public, display public support for the SBVFT, as well as displaying the website address!

Swiftee window sticker thread - get yours! Freep mail for details.

History repeats itself. I wonder if this is the Revenge Of Dukakis for being shoved out to the streets back in July. The Campaign Gods keep giving out gifts that you'd never dream of. Somewhere, Karl Rove is smiling.

On Labor Day weekend 16 years ago, with his campaign foundering and the Bush machine taking huge bites out of his support, Michael Dukakis brought John Sasso back to rescue his presidential bid.

Sasso has been with the Kerry campaign since April. Yep, since April. Here is a good story about Sasso and his techniques:

RogerSimon.Com: The Return of John Sasso <--

April 05, 2004
The Return of John Sasso

ROGER SIMON COLUMN
APRIL 5, 2004

WASHINGTON - - By quietly naming John Sasso to be general election chairman of the Democratic National Committee, John Kerry has served notice that he is no longer afraid of the Michael Dukakis curse. ...

Sasso put the two tapes together on one tape and leaked the "attack video," as it came to be known, to the New York Times, NBC and the Des Moines Register. All three published the story. None revealed its source.

The story immediately snowballed. Other Biden character flaws were discovered (he had inflated his academic record and had insulted a voter in New Hampshire) and Biden withdrew from the race.

But one question still remained: Who had leaked the attack video?
