We had a very successful rally last night. The weather was not too warm and we had a large enthusiastic group. Doctor Raoul sent a karaoke machine so Amy's niece Marissa used the mike to lead us in chants of USA, USA and Four More Years. We played patriotic and country music throughout the evening. As usual, the motorist response was overwhelming. For the most part, they are happy to see us out there.

In addition there were several people who joined us from a Jewish Republican Group and a couple of families who heard us on local radio last month.
A very special surprise was a visit from a soldier who is home from Iraq for two weeks. He is getting married Tuesday and was accompanied by his finance and her son. He thanked us for all the support. He wanted to let us know how much our support, packages and letters means to the personnel serving in Iraq.
After the rally, we met at Lyons for dinner and an informal chapter meeting. Setting up a chapter web page, the picnic and the inauguration were the topics discussed.
I think you have a point there.
When Kerry needed some help with the costs of campaigning,
he re-fianced.
LOL!
That cracked me up...
LOL
NnB .. how about writing a 4 or 6 line jingle about a FReeper Ball in January?
Are there any extended stay facilities near the airport that are also near a metro station?
Wouldn't the metro be our best bet for getting around?
A cab from the outlying airport costs about $40.
I think if we try to get a block of rooms it is less expensive.
In 2001, I was late in booking and did not get into the Freeper Hotel. But when Gore and his friend Chad stopped hanging around and didn't steal the election, Democrats canceled their rooms en mass. LOL I wonder why?
Anyway by calling the hotel on MY WAY to DC at layovers I eventually got a room there.
Something to think about.
Will you be going to DC?
I would like to know how much interest there is. We could probably reserve a block of rooms if we can get a poll going.
You bet, If my girl Hilliary gets elected...LOL
Yup, I am planning on it.
LOL
Grate!!!
The extended stay facility was just the first thing I thought of in regard to FReepers being able to get together.
It seemed like a kitchen would be a good idea. That being the case, many hotels have kitchenette style rooms which would suffice, I'm sure.
So if public transportation is the first order selector, any place along the metro corridor would probably serve. (I will do some research.) Keep in mind, my offer to transport folks from BWI also extends to providing escort to other destinations as well. I expect to make a nuisance of myself.
I like a selection that puts everyone on this side of the Potomac, and the facility I mentioned has only the Anacostia river to get across to get into Washington.
I don't know if you took advantage of it, Lori, but the Holiday Inn you stayed at had internet access set up in the lobby (two stations). Something else to consider.
We expect you to make a nuisance of yourself. We look forward to it!! :)
Forgive me if I get confused. We seem to be having this discussion on two threads. I'm not Conspiracy Guy!!
If there are enough who are interested, we may end by setting up two locations, one in Virginia and one in Maryland, though I don't think there will be that many.
This only seems to matter to those who may drive, but they will be a valuable resource!
Two threads ... yes. I was hoping to get some response from those who visit the Place but there are not many around this weekend.
Maybe I should call Tragically Single over here. :)
I found a map of DC.
Which side of the river do you mean by "this side"?
Why, the right side, of course!
On the upper right hand corner of the map, you will see New York Avenue. That is the route I usually use to enter DC.
It's an easy exit off I95, and also connects with MD Rte 50, which continues past Annapolis, and across the Chesapeake Bay.
I live North of Annapolis, and the BWI airport is about midway between Baltimore and Washington.
This is so nice of you, NnB! And, here I thought WE would be the nuisances. LOL. FReepers are just the greatest! I am so sorry that I missed you and Pippin when we were in DC this summer.
I don't know if you took advantage of it, Lori, but the Holiday Inn you stayed at had internet access set up in the lobby (two stations). Something else to consider.
We certainly did take advantage of it! Internet access was a priority everywhere we stayed, and wireless access for my husband's laptop was even better. That's why we hopped from one Holiday Inn to another all through our vacation...almost all Holiday Inns have wireless now. I guess it is the age we live in. And I remember when a *color* tv was THE deciding factor in where my family would stay on our vacations (of course, I was a VERY young child then). How things have changed! LOL!
I am looking forward to this trip. Even though, after spending several Januarys in DC, I know it is not the best month of the year to visit, we'll still have a great time.
I know you went back for GWB's first Inauguration. Any chance you will be going back for this one?
You got another one in FR mail...(ignore the person on the left)
And yes I am going again, even if Hilliary does not win!
ping to the top
Fantastic FREEP!
You all rock! Thanks for supporting the troops.
Great rally and looking forward to this Friday's rally, too - same place same time. Then onward and upward to Saturday, 9/11, at Woodward Park. This is going to be a great week!!!!
