NEWARK, Ohio -- Angry words and sharp disagreements about the economy and Iraq marked the first full day of the fall election season as Sen. John Kerry accused President Bush on Friday of saying anything to get re-elected, while the president warned that his opponent would raise taxes to pay for all of his promises.
Bush was trying to capitalize on the just-ended Republican National Convention with visits to Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Iowa--states he narrowly lost in 2000. Kerry, on the other hand, concentrated his efforts with a bus trip through Ohio, a state that went to Bush in the last election but has been hard hit by job losses in the last four years.

Former Sen. John Glenn of Ohio, campaigning with Kerry in the town about 25 miles east of Columbus, urged voters "to separate out fact from fiction." He accused Republicans of making false claims against Kerry and engaging in the kind of propaganda once employed by the Third Reich in Nazi Germany.
"That makes this a very, very tough fight because too often, too often in this country, if you hear something repeated, it's the old Hitler business," Glenn said. "If you hear something repeated, repeated, repeated, repeated, you start to believe it." John Glenn needs to come down from orbit.

How much did that space trip cost him?
It appears to be a never ending debt for Glenn.

I wonder where Glenn would be today if someone else took his place before his first flight.
I wonder where the young person that worked for years to get a seat on the shuttle that Glenn bumped is today.

At one time John Glenn was a great American hero, but not any more.
Remember the name of the Nazi party, Nazi Socialist Party, so just ask yourself which party is socialist?

John Glenn= $$$$$ Charles Keating. Democrat Senator(Ohio-Ret) Glenn should have resigned along with McCain long ago. America had no stomach for punishing well known veterans for misdeeds. So it goes.

Talk about desperation. I thought the Democrats wouldn't be making their "Nazi" accusations at least until October. Their internal polls must be far worse than what's being reported in the general media because they're shooting from the gutter so early.

It cost him nothing but what remained of his honor after the Keating 5 scandel.
He stonewalled the Senate investigation of Clinton and was promply paid with a trip on the space shuttle.
