Whew. The litmus test that your friend was a Republican. If she was a liberal, she would have taken the check (not demanded cash. The check of course would have bounced) and duh, the new "delegate" would have been Al Quedah. "Just because he was an Arab or wearing a 'Kill George Bush' T-shirt was no reason to 'profile' him."
