I posted the following in a thread about Michael Moore: "He [Kerry] said of Bush, "All hat no cattle." Well it could equally be said of him, "All medal, no chest." (as children my friends and I used to goad each other with, "What would you rather have the medal, or the chest to pin it on?"). Maybe we could have some fun and come up with other aphorisms to describe the "distinguished (ahem) senator from Massachusetts. Fire away!
I remember that taunt -bump-
All Hair, No Brains
All Flip, No Flop
All Talk, No Action (yea, I know, real original)
All Bag, No Balls
Forged in the heat of a ward room
Kerry peered around in the near darkness
the smell of Havanas and burned coffee
kept his senses sharp
blam...blam blam blam...blamblamblamblam
In the stacotto fire of his Remington* his
name and deeds would live on....forever...
*remington made some nice typewriters back then
Anyone reading the headline will know immediately who it describes. It is, in short, perfect! Worthy of banners and bumper stickers!
I remember the first time someone said it to me, and I seem to recall being confused. Wouldn't the medal signify something about the chest that it was pinned on? I think John Kerry gives us the answer to that (the answer being, "Not necessarily.")
Great "artwork"!!!! Maybe a caption like, 'Hmmm...Congressional Medal of Honor... (rat-tat-tat)...no, maybe not, too pretentious...'
John Kerry, The FRENCHurian Candidate. Programmed to destroy America.
Please announce to Senator Kerry that if he uses one more of your lines without giving you credit, you will have in court for plagiarism.
I know, it's not really plagiarism, but the Dork can't come up with its own quips.
Saying "Bring it on" was reminiscent of the tree going after (now) President Bush while he was answering a question during one of the 'debates' in 2000.
President Bush never flinched nor skipped a beat, but then, the tree never got too close neither.
Bring it on, indeed.
All hat and no cattle, Dork?
Who told you you might come off as a Texan if you said something so common to people of the same sense?
I think we all can say that the man is an empty suit. There is nothing there except what he thinks what those around him wants to be there (did that make sense?)
I wasn't confused. It was pretty clear to me, the chest meant you could "repeat the feat," a medal being a 'mere' symbol. What would you rather have? The ability? Or the token?
FoxNews reported that the Navy is investigating his record and the question of the V on his Silver Star (seems he is even responsible for clearing up clerical errors on his record--this "clerical error" has been around for 30 or so years). What are the chances of this happening before the election? The reason I ask is it seems to me that the Navy's reputation is on the line here. Imagine the embarrassment to the Navy if it was found after Kerry was elected (I cringe to even think of it) and it was discovered the record contained lies--apparently overlooked by the Navy!
Oh to have had that kind of clarity in my youth! I guess I was a bit slow on the uptake, but it seemed to me that you had to do something to earn the symbol. Now, I think we all realize that posterior-implanted grains of rice and band aids can add up to quite an impressive war record--worthy, even, of consideration for highest office in the land.
I like the title, NO MEDAL, NO CHEST!
or: NO MEDALS ON CHEST !!!
or: ALL MEDALS, OVER FENCE, WHAT CHEST?
How about No Mettle, No Chest
By the way, big Amen for the tag after your name, LadyPilgrim! While Kerry was "seared, seared" (and how many unwittingly await the day when that will take on new meaning), those in Christ have been "sealed, sealed"! What a Savior!
"Now, I think we all realize that posterior-implanted grains of rice and band aids can add up to quite an impressive war record--worthy, even, of consideration for highest office in the land."
Sure as long as you're the one writing the reports the awards are based on anyway.
That former Sec/Navy - Lehman? doesn't sound too happy about his signature ending up on a Kerry promotional piece, does he?
That's good too!
or how about?: NO CHEST FOR MEDAL!
I think we've come up with something, don't you?
