Two Anti-Kerry Vets Get Jobs on VA Panel
AP via Yahoo ^ | Sept. 3, 2004 | Matt Kelley

WASHINGTON - Two former Vietnam prisoners of war who appear in ads attacking Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) were appointed by the Bush administration to a panel advising the Department of Veterans Affairs (news - web sites).

The former POWs in the ad, Kenneth Cordier and Paul Galanti, serve on the VA's 12-member Former POW Advisory Committee. VA Secretary Anthony Principi appointed Cordier in 2002 and Galanti in 2003.

Cordier said the VA panel has nothing to do with the Bush campaign or the anti-Kerry group. "It's totally apolitical, and we meet twice a year to bring to the secretary's attention problems from around the country in VA hospitals," he said.

Cordier and Galanti appear in an anti-Kerry ad saying their Vietnamese captors used news of anti-war protests, such as ones Kerry organized, to taunt the prisoners. Cordier also was a member of a Bush campaign veterans' committee but quit earlier this month after that role was revealed.

VA spokesman Phil Budahn said Principi did not know about or encourage the veterans' appearance in the anti-Kerry ad. Budahn said federal regulations bar advisory committee members from engaging in political activity while performing their committee duties, but there are no other restrictions on their activities when not working on committee business.

Maybe time to explain there is nothing evil about being a Republican, serving on some committee formed by the President, or even (God forbid) being from Texas. Everyone with an R by their name is not a de facto despicable liar. Especially war heros.

Duh, just maybe John Kerry lies to help the democrat candidate (himself).

You needed to run the original headline:

"Two Anti-Kerry Vets Get Jobs on VA Panel"

Notice "Get" instead of "Have" or "Had". This is supposed
to imply that they were given these jobs after becoming
anti-Kerry vets (and if you want to infer that the jobs
were pay-offs, that's OK with the AP).

Beyond hopeless -- let this be witness to all that doubt the rabid desire for political power these losers have. It is the entire embodiment of the far-left Dems. Desperation similar to the last breaths of a rabid dog.

Zell should have used that one!!!!

Would this be the same "AP" that manufactured news earlier today?

"Navy records also show most of the anti-Kerry group's
members were not in Vietnam at the same time as Kerry."

No, they were there catching extra Hell, after Hanoi
John fled the field, defected to the enemy, and cheered
the enemy to keep fighting instead of surrender.

Therefore, they should have no opinion about Kerry.

Granted, this is Dem flailing, but still it's amazing to watch. You could show the average voter proof that Bush picked the guys, wrote the ad, ghost wrote "Unfit For Command," piloted the jet that brought these guys to DC to film the ads, worked the camera, got on the phone personally to do the ad buys and paid for them out of his campaign fund and it still wouldn't matter, because the ad shows guys who were in the Hilton saying that John Kerry's lies lead to them getting screwed. Telling the average voter, "John Kerry screwed over POWs, and GW Bush's campaign wanted you to know about it" isn't going to get the average voter mad at Bush, it will get them furious at Kerry.

One, there is no real connection. Two, even if there were, the ads ddon't say John Kerry is a liberal or picks his nose. They show that he is a traitor, and they do it with his own words.

Our search is based upon thread titles. If you alter them, duplicate will happen.

Wow, what a brilliant plot this turned out to be! Miss Cleo must have told the Bushies to have Galanti and Cordier on retainer to smear Kerry when the time came, since Kerry didn't announce he was running for President until 9/2/03 -- a year ago yesterday.

Everyone with an R by their name is not a de facto despicable liar. Especially war heros.

Two points:

My favorite line about the "connection" to GOP donors came from Charlie Sykes: "Who did they think was going to fund ads against John Kerry? Barbara Streisand?"

One of the guys in the upcoming "Stolen Honor" movie won the CMH by tangling with several MiGs in an F-105 so rescue choppers could pick up some downed crewmen unmolested. Then he won the Air Force Cross for his conduct in the Hanoi Hilton. Story here.

And when "Stolen Honor" comes out, the media will try to give these guys a proctological exam, too. Despicable freakin' girlie-men working in the press these days...

More AP bias.

The didn't get the jobs because they are anti-Kerry. They have worked for the VA since 2002 and 2003.
