Islam is like a packet-switched network. It has a decentralized system of franchises (Mosques). And no primary leader. No "Pope" if you will.

Chechnya is a complicated situation, like Palestine, and is now breeding terrorists. Chechnya is very much a captive nation that Russian won't let go. The Russian army has done lots of bad things there. Every seen the before and after photos of Grozny?

Nothing can excuse terrorism. But a look at the history of Cechnya can at least help us understand some of the roots of it.
