There are a lot of old manufacturing areas that are still hurting.
Largely because old dem die hards think somehow manufacturing will return to its glory days.
I blame it in part on all the tree-hugging/environmental policies of the liberal Dims in the course of the last 30 years.
However, I know what you're saying, my late daddy was an FDR democrat (not a liberal Dim) until his dying day.
It's the only thing we EVER disagreed about, and I wouldn't debate him about it, although others in my Conservative family did. I knew he would never change his political thought process, and had too much respect for him to even have the conversation.
Sorta like South Bend, Indiana. Union workers there are still waiting for Studebaker to return.
