I know it was travis -- I was agreeing with hima nd disagreeing with you -- you can't compare Mecca to the Vatican. And for Muslimes, Mecca is the be-all and end-all of their cult.

Muslims adhere to the Five Pillars, and Mecca is indeed their holiest city. But like Catholicism, the religion would not die if Mecca were destroyed. Muslims would simply adjust to the new reality. They aren't going to give up believing in Allah simply because Mecca is destroyed. The Five Pillars would still apply, an short of destroying every reference to Islam in the world you couldn't destroy that.

It is their holiest city, it is the city they bow down to 5 times a day, it is the place where Mad Mo was born. It is the place where the supposed rock from heaven rests. It is the place that represetns the "triumph" ofIslam. It is the place where a church cannot be built, where a christian cannot visit. It is the most mentioned place in the Koran. It is the centre, the heart, the "soul" of the evil cult. Destroy it and the cult has no place to direct its worhip. Destroy it and the cutl loses it's belief in its supposed superiority. 1. The essense of Christianity is an idea, symbolized by any tiny wooden cross.
2. Catholics do not prostrate themselves five times a day to St. Peter's Basilica (or anything else) the way muslims lay down and pray TO mecca.
3. Catholics to not make a "haj" to the Vatican, it's just the place the Pope hangs his miter.
4. They cannot "rebuild" the kaaba rock, put their by allah himself, a piece of allah himself!
5. The concept of mere men "rebuilding" the god-head of the kaaba rock would be blasphemy!
6. St. Peter's is a pretty building, built by men. Very historical, even blessed, to Catholics. But we don't pray to it! We don't believe God almighty put it there!
