I haven't noticed too many civilized people
turning their back on the US for the
firebombing of Dresden & Tokyo,
nor for Hiroshima & Nagasaki.
OTOH, remember some of the Arabs still make
references to the Knights Templars &
the sack of Jerusalem during the Crusades.
Cultural memories are longer in some
parts of the world than others.

People remember Hiroshima and Dresden. Actually the whole Dresden thing is much more cut & dried than Hiroshima. Also, there wasn't a famous author in Hiroshima to write an amazing book about it.
Also, remember that most Muslims are not Arab.
