HEADLINE: Arabs predominate in Beslan attack

DATELINE: BESLAN, Russia, Sept. 3 (UPI)

BODY: The terrorists who killed more than 150 people and injured at least 456 in a southern Russian school include 10 Arabs, Itar-Tass reported Friday.

Aslambek Aslakhanov, an adviser to President Vladimir Putin, said the gunmen were of different nationalities, but 10 of them were from Arab countries and one was from an African nation.

They are suspected of gaining entrance into Beslan with a truck hijacked in the Mozdok region of North Ossetia last month.

In addition, Russian intelligence sources have identified Shamil Basayev as the attack's mastermind and Magomet Yevloyev as the field commander of the hostage crisis that began Wednesday.

They are believed to have been funded by Wahabist Muslim leader Abu Omar al-Seif, al-Qaida's liaison in Chechnya and the manager of the group's foreign funds.

TASS

LENGTH: 271 words

HEADLINE: Basayev behind Beslan hostage raid - FSB

BODY: BESLAN /North Ossetia/, September 3 - According to preliminary information released by the Federal Security Service, Shamil Basayev masterminded the Beslan hostage raid, while field commander Magomet Yevloyev led it, representatives of secret services in the southern federal district told Itar-Tass.

Also, there is information that the mass hostage taking was funded by one of the ideologists of Wahhabism Abu Omar al-Seif, al Qaeda's liason in Chechnya and manager of foreign funds.

FSB agents claimed Magomet Yevloyev was the one who directly supervised the hostage taking. His call-sign was "Magas."

Suicide bombers for terrorist attacks in Russia and the North Caucasus are prepared by instructors from al Qaeda and other extremist organizations. "In a number of cases, suicide bombers are trained by Chechen instructors, but they, too, use al Qaeda methods," the FSB said.

It is known that Yevloyev is subordinate to Bassayev, and that he was responsible for planning, carrying out and funding terrorist attacks and acts of sabotage in Chechnya and Ingushetia.

A senior Ingush Interior Ministry official said Yevloyev was among the people close to the former president of "Ichkeria" Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev, who, for his part, contributed to Magas' close acquaintance with Basayev and Khattab.

Law-enforcement bodies have information about Yevloyev's involvement in a number of acts of sabotage and terror, the militants' attack on Dagestan in the summer of 1999, and the kidnapping of people in Ingushetia with subsequent smuggling of the abducted to the notorious Wahhabis - the Akhamadov brothers.

Sickening, but maybe, just maybe, our ex friends all over the world will see what AQ is. I fear, really fear, this will happen at one of our schools. I keep remembering after 911 those three middle easterners taking pics of a girls school in Baltimore,,either St Pauls or Bais Yaakov. I cannot imagine how horrible it would be.

My recommendation to Russia as an appropriate response:

SS-18 SATAN ICBM

Highly doubtful; Islam is a religion of peace.

It's time the media become responsible and tell us who the real enemy is. These Islamist have trained with and are funded by the same terrorist who struck us here in NYC and Washington D.C.

The public needs to know that the terrorists we are fighting consider slaughtering innocent children in a school a tool in their tool box. The Islamists want the next strike in the U.S. to be an outrage and inhumane beyond comprehension, but for some reason this is not 'news fit to print'

Yes -- the media is trying it's hardest to make this look like some rebellion and not acknowledge that it was Arab muslims.

We could join hands with Russia, Israel, India, and others --- drive the muslims out of the countries that want freedom. It has to happen at some point.

I was just watching a terrorism expert named Ben Venzke on MSNBC.

He said that many (all?) of the 19 Al-Qaeda hijackers who attacked us on 9/11/01 WERE DIVERTED FROM THEIR PLANNED ASSIGNMENT TO CHECHNYA

Something like the Spanish Inquisition makes more and more sense, it makes no sense to allow them to continue to come here and be given access to our children.

They must be Arab separatists and Arab freedom fighters! Send NATO in to help them.

On WABC tonight Monica Crowley and John Loftus talked about the linkage between Al Qaeda and the Chechenans (spelling?)

Perhaps this information will come out this weekend?

Here is how I see it:

Did Russia support the US "occupation" of Iraq? Did Russia provoke Islamic terrorism because of its bases in Saudia Arabia. If George H. caused them to hate us and George W. made it worse then why are they still after Russia? Did Russia respond with overwhelming force last year when 700(?) died in the Theater stand-off? Now they've done it again. Kerry's brand of running a more sensitive campaign on terror is EXACTLY what Russia has done in the last year. If you want the terrorist to take your children, strip them, force them to drink their own urine, execute them mercilessly and forever scar the ones that escape, then by all means vote for Kerry!

I hope.

Nightline on ABC is actually using the word 'terrorists' to describe the vermin -- oops, they're still using Chechen rebels, also.

al-Qaeda and the Taliban weeds sprouted from America's CIA seed - that includes the Chechens.

The Soviets financed secular/nationalist/Socialist Arabs. The Iranians finance certain Shia groups but the Wahhabist jihadis came out of our war with Afghanistan.

What is actually ironic is that a zionist would not know that - know your enemey before you fight him would be a zionist creed I would imagine. Who would suspect such ignorance from a people on target from these groups. Maybe since as a Jew (I assume) and an Israeli (assumption again) since all three groups are fighting you they blend together. But you are deadly wrong when you assume that the Chechens grew out of Soviet patronage of communist peasant movements.

No - but warned Bush about Saddam and offered to backa coup against him and we refused. Saddam was a secular Arab that liked to pour acid on fundamentalist Muslims.

Did Russia provoke Islamic terrorism because of its bases in Saudia Arabia. You must be one of the most ignorant people left in this day and age. al-Qaeda grew out of America's backing of the jihad against the Soviets in Afghanistan. In reality while they did not back our invasion of Iraq they backed our invasion of Afghanistan. The Afghani Northern Alliance was Russia's army. Our ally was Pakistan and they created the Taliban.

Our great ally Saudi Arabia had a hand in creating the jihadist armies that are now loose in the world. Russia did not create them. The old Soviet Union did help terrorists but they tended to be the secular socialist kind like the old PLO.

The third force of Islamic terror in the world is the Iranian one and they are independent in creation and operation.

[old joke alert]

IN THE YEAR 2032 - A man and his son are walking through a highly built-up Manhattan when they come across an empty space and the father stops to reflect for a while.

"Imagine son," the father says "exactly 31 years ago the great twin towers stood proudly in this area". Intrigued by the comment the son then asks "What were the twin towers dad?"

To which the father replies "They were two of the largest buildings in the world and they housed many thousands of offices.... but in 2001 they were destroyed by Arabs"

The son pauses for a while and then asks "What were Arabs dad?"

...

Why are there no Arabs on Star Trek? Star Trek is set in the future.

The entire article fails to mention Islam, and uses the word "Muslim" only once. How clever is that?

Somehow, I think the readers are onto them. :') I have to think that western news organizations have been given guidelines to follow (such as the use of the term "insurgents" instead of terrorists, or gangsters, or mass murderers) in order for them to operate inside Moslem countries. No compliance, no access.
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
