you'll know a candidate is dead when the following three things happen:

1. The candidate "shakes up" his staff.
2. The candidate loses control of the agenda.
3. The campaign says "The only poll that counts is the poll on election day."

You got Kerry's number. It would interesting to see how long will pass before #3 becomes Kerry's mantra.
