WEST ALLIS, Wis. - President Bush (news - web sites) on Friday offered former President Bill Clinton (news - web sites), who faces heart bypass surgery, "best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery."
"He's is in our thoughts and prayers," Bush said at a campaign rally.
Bush offered his wishes while campaigning one day after accepting the presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention in New York. Clinton was hospitalized in New York after complaining of mild chest pain and shortness of breath.
Bush recently praised Clinton when the former president went to the White House for the unveiling of his official portrait. He lauded Clinton for his knowledge, compassion and "the forward-looking spirit that Americans like in a president."
Imagine how many we are missing though.
There was no booing, number one. The AP flat out made it up.
Second, if there had been any booing from even a minority, the original story made it sound like everybody in the "audience of thousands" booed. At this point by all witness accounts there was not even one boo. But notice the really outrageous part the AP tacked on about "President Bush did nothing to stop them". That is beyond belief!
And to those that say fire the reporter, get real. The AP is no stranger to anti-Bush propaganda and have used it blatantly in the past. Remember in Iraq the story about the "wedding party" that it was reported we bombed? For weeks after our military had shown it was no wedding party the AP published reports from their correspondent over there insisting that it was.
Be sure to stock up on chocolate, I hear it's about to be rationed.........
(If you don't understand this read 1984)
It's enough to keep you up at night... I still celebrate the small victories, and I'm glad this is at least one blatant lie our side was able to nip in the bud before it got out of control.
I just hope someone with the ability to reach the masses can investigate this story.
I've caught 4 in the Google list, but the rest have been changed by now, (and the ones which want registration I haven't been to). But 4 is enough, hehe
They're still up at those sites one half hour after you posted the links.
I could cry.
Highly doubtful... because the original lines were pulled so quickly, I'd imagine this story will sink as quickly as the Sandy Berger story did.
I didn't mean the content, just the headline. Every other one I've seen use the 'Bush Offers Best Wishes for Clinton' headline. The Boston page had it as you posted, 'Audience boos as Bush Offers Best Wishes for Clinton'.
I think someone at the Globe wanted to make sure people noticed that.
HANNITY just mentioned this his said..........
"THERE WERE NO BOOS, THIS IS A LIE,FOX HAS THE VIDEO"
"There were no boos - and FOX has the video."
-Sean Hannity (live a 2:46 p.m. CDT)
As I have said on another thread, I was at the rally, which, BTW, was fantastic. There was no booing, only applause. The AP are lying SOS.
Hannity just mentioned the Boos story going into current break. Fox will play the tape!
YES!! Sean is paying attention to us!!
Woohoo!!
Sean, come up to Maine and do a show sometime. You'll get a good crowd.
The links in post 44 all have the "audience boos" headline, so you can infer it's an AP piece that sites take and repost without using any editorial judgment whatever. "Hey, if it's the AP, it must be true".
But the Guardian which you linked to has the other headline, but the body has the line about booing and nothing being done about it. And we can all guess if the Guardian will be the last to remove the story, if at all.
Think about it. Only deeply mentally disturbed Leftists would cannibalize their own for a headline.
Thanks for the update. I hope this gets around and bites AP in the a55.
Drudge has the original version linked on his site. I sent him a note saying the report has been quietly corrected. Hopefully he points this out.
