Brinkley on Imus; Personal Attacks on Bush Predicted

Posted on 09/03/2004 7:47:07 AM PDT by Joann37

I haven't watched or listened to Don Imus for a while, but heard that he is no longer supporting Kerry (he is "undecided").

But today, he had Douglas Brinkley on, and Brinkley, of course, was naturally sympathetic to Kerry. But what was most disturbing was that Brinkley said the media would soon start going after the President with personal attacks (I'm paraphrasing), and that we could look forward to them soon. What's that about? Are they now all in collusion? And what is there to attack him with regarding his personal life? Don't we know everything about him already? And who cares? What does this have to do with his qualifications to be our President?

If there was anything out there, you can bet Ma Richards would have found it and used it.

You can be sure of one thing though: this is now a fight to the death; it's no longer politics; it's blood sport.

Yes, they are that desperate; and they'll lie to try to get the White House back.

I have heard that 60 Minutes is planning another segment on the National Guard issues.

The real question is, what can they come up with that they haven't already tried? Between the Hollywood commies, Michael Moore, and all the anti-Bush books, they've already taken their best shot.

Liberals dont know how to do anything else. Smear, attack, and do anything to dominate the topic, so that dissenting and damaging points cant be made..

They're losing big and this is all that's left.

Brinkley is the conduit for many of Kerry's self-fulfilling exploits in Vietnam. In other words...he's willing to publish a book full of lies.

I expect the sKerry campaign will go after the Natl Guard thing and...and...well...can't think of anything else.

Well, there is a new book coming out about the Bushies by Kitty something or other. However, on an MSNBC poll recently, over 60% of respondents said they don't plan to read it. If anyone wishes to get themselves sidetracked on gossip, they will miss the message of the Bush campaign. But of course, these are the folks that aren't looking for the platform anyway but are mired in middle school mentality or flipfloppery.

As if the media wasn't doing this already? I imagine that they will use some of Froggy Flynt's accusations etc. to go after the President. They will feel it is justified in light of Bush going after Kerry on his record, something the media sees as a personal attack. But, the undecideds will not see it that way, and it will create even more sympathy for Bush.

Honestly, the media doesn't realize that they are exposed. Everyone knows they are pulling for Kerry and personally attacking Bush will backfire.

Yep, I would agree -- haven't they used up everything? Knowing these scumbags that live on lies, they will invent something, in concert with thier cohorts in the media, which will print it of course.

Help me out here: has 60 Minutes done anything about Kerry's medals and/or 1971?

Democrat MO - remember the drunk driving October surprise.

And in the same breath they'll b*tch about Zell Miller's "mean-spirited attacks" without a trace of shame.

Kitty Kelly.

She makes Chris Lehane look credible.

Probably Brinkley is talking about the 60 Minutes interview with a Texas guy named Barnes, who has changed his story several times that he did, then he didn't, now he did, again, use family connections to help George Bush get into the Texas National Guard, which (the spin will go), kept other men from getting those slots, and those men might have died as a result because they got drafted and Bush didn't.

Quite a stretch, even for 60 Minutes, but the left will recycle it. I don't think it will sell. Too many families have too many relatives who chose the NG over regular army.

This issue is too important for jokes. Seriously, no they haven't.

You would think the convention rating would be a wake up call for the MSM. Guess not.

Barnes was discredited years ago; of course, that doesn't matter to OM (old media). They have a job to do!
