From other reports, the terrorists switched to civilian dress, and allowed four to come in to collect bodies of children that died under the mistreatment, opened fire on the four, blew up the gym, and tried to escape in the panic.

More a typical Islamofacist operation than Russian one.

I fully agree. The only choice they had was to storm the school and ensure (to the best of their ability) that as few hostages as possible were hurt or killed. One sad part (among many) about this whole thing, though, is that the MSM will portray the Russian military and police as the evil, impatient ones and let the Chechen psychos off the hook. Terrible....

Prayers for the children.

>I.e., the usual Russian operation. "Free" the hostages.

How much choice did the Russians have? The terrorists were depriving those people of water, in stifling heat.

I agree with heavy force, too. Otherwise all the power is in the terrorists' hands, and YOU negotiate with them. I hope the CIA/ FBI are watching. I knew the Ruskies wouldn't put up with this for long. Poor babies. I hope they flatten Chenhnya.

Russian security services are incompetent and corrupt. Meanwhile Russians chear jihadi attacks on US troops in Iraq and supply Iran with nuclear technology.

The Russians should follow Mongol tactics: 1,000 dead Chechins for every person killed by the Terrorists. Soak them all in pig fat, cut off their heads and stack the heads up in pyramids at the entrance every Chechin city. Or impale any captured terrorists, pour pork fat overthem and let pigs eat their intestines. If that doesn't stop the terrorism, simply add the Chechins to the list of peoples such as the Cathegenians who have vanished.

I would hope this would make Putin stand up and commit, on a worldwide basis, to the war on Islamo-Fascist Terror. While these words -- are one in the same -- I personally am tired of the liberal media discounting exactly WHO today's terrorists really are.

The are ALL MUSLIM/ISLAMICS.

That was my thinking exactly. Another rescue plan designed by Janet "burn the babies first" Reno.

Stop blaming the Russian forces and blame the terrorists. These terrorists duct tape people, are heavily armed, and wire the place like mad with explosives. It is inevitable that there will be fatalities in a situation like that.

The Russians have set a precedent that the terrorists get killed. Thats a proper precedent to set even though there are unfortunate innocents being held.

the usual Russian operation. "Free" the hostages.

All the hostages were dead from the beginning. The Russians did what they could to save as many as they could. The blood is all on the hands of the murdering scumbags who comandeered the school.

Seems like they're already fighting against terrorism. On their own turf.

How long will Reuters continue to protect this scum???

Its 100 dead school children, not 100 bodies.

The charges were detonated by Muslim terrorists, not simply attackers. And if Julian Manyon of ITV said something about the detonation of the charges, why not quote him directly rather than paraphrase him?

The Russian troops attempted a rescue mission, they didn't just "storm" the building (like it was simply a display of testosterone). And it wasn't a two-day seige, it was a two-day hostage crisis and occupation of a school building.

I think Putin needs to offer them a "group encounter" with tactical nuclear weapons.

"I.e., the usual Russian operation. "Free" the hostages."

I don't think they had any option in this instance. Once the terrorists started blowing themselves up the choice was made for them.

How horribly sad! Hopefully all of these "undecideds" will realize how easily this could happen again in America and will vote for Bush. I hope they capture the terrorists that got away.

This is a prime illustration of what Pres. Bush means when he says he wants to fight the terrorists where THEY live, not where we live.

Actually it was the hostage takers changing into civvies, using children as shields in an escape attempt that started this after they set off two bombs....
