Kerry on Attack: Bush and Cheney "refused to serve"
Associated Press ^ | August 2, 2004 | Jennifer Kay

Posted on 09/02/2004 6:44:11 PM PDT by bamaroots04

Fighting back, Democratic Sen. John Kerry (website - news - bio) called President Bush (website - news - bio) "unfit to lead this nation" because of the war in Iraq and his record on jobs, health care and energy prices. He lashed out at the incumbent and Vice President Dick Cheney (website - news - bio) for avoiding service in the Vietnam War.

"I'm not going to have my commitment to defend this country questioned by those who refused to serve when they could have and by those who have misled the nation into Iraq," Kerry said in prepared remarks issued as the Republican was poised to accept his party's nomination for a second term.

Neither the Bush Administration nor Congressional Republicans have questioned Kerry's war-record. Yet Kerry cried foul at the 250+ Swift Vets, defining them as part of the "Republican Smear Machine" (the political branch of the Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy). Now Kerry has decided Vietnam is fair game. Let's hope the American voters see the hypocrisy.

I love the smell of DNC sweat. It has a distinctive odor. An odor of failure. Burnt toast.

How dare Kerry suggest that Guard duty is anything less than honerable!

Especially since he "volunteed" after his deferment request was rejected.

Is this clown for real?

He's sticking to his tact, thinking he'll win?

Ahhhh yes, coming from someone that joined the Navy to avoid direct combat, it means little to those who were around at that time. He's either unlucky that his unit got called for that particular duty (just as Dubya's unit could have), or he's lucky that Teddy got him a photo-op in the Jungle for 4 months to support his anti-US stance.

Kerry tried NOT to serve as well by trying for Reserve duty and he failed to make it. So he went Navy, hoping to avoid combat. Then he did SwiftBoats, because they weren't FOR combat initially... He tried THREE TIMES not to serve.

I didn't go to the web page, but I would assume that they detailed Edward's Military service.

Let's talk backfire. Kerry trashes the men who freed 50 million people from tyrany. Kerry served and because of his actions 2 million Cambodians were slaughtered by the Khmer Rouge.

And when will we here about how Edwards didn't volunteer? This is so desperate and stupid. It's just going to make the Vets even angrier.

Say now, that's real intelligent! Now, someone help me out here. What service was John Edwards in? I'm having trouble recalling.
