FORT LEWIS, Wash. - A soldier accused of trying to give al-Qaida information about U.S. troops, including methods for killing soldiers, was found guilty Thursday on all five counts of trying to help the terrorist network.
The verdict in Spc. Ryan G. Anderson's court-martial, which began Monday, was announced late Thursday afternoon.
Anderson, a tank crewman whose 81st Armor Brigade unit is now in Iraq, was accused of trying to give terrorists information about U.S. soldiers' strength and tactics. The terrorists he though he was meeting with were actually undercover federal agents, prosecutors said.
A military spokesman has said the charges amount to attempted treason.
Conviction required agreement by two-thirds of the jury of nine commissioned officers - all from Fort Lewis. The jury vote was not immediately announced.
Anderson, a 27-year-old Muslim convert, could face a maximum penalty of life in prison. The court took a brief recess after the verdict was announced, then planned to reconvene to consider his sentence.
wow that was rather fast.
A rope and a tree will do just fine.
Is Kerry next?
This is new?
Firing Squad is what the SWINE deserves!
Personally I'd like to see the military cut off his manhood and send him to allah without it......Was this guy tried for treason?
Why am I NOT surprised by this bolded line? When I saw the story, I asked myself, "Is this guy a Muslim?" *shaking my head* Religion of peace my foot! This story calls for this picture:
the trial itself is relatively new (and went by fast, at least to me).
His being caught was rather old, though.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No, they do not. The charges amount to straight-out, clear as crystal, no question about it TREASON.
This Islamic-Fascist sympathizer not only gave our enemies moral and propaganda support. But while actively serving in the US military, he attempted to pass classified tactical information that would have directly cost the lives of many other US soldiers, as well as jeopardized our national security.
Why was he not charged with the crime of treason? Why is he not facing execution? He doesn't even have any enemy information to trade for his life, nor is he pleading guilty to take the death penalty off the table (and with a case as strong as this one, as the prosecutor, I wouldn't have given him that deal anyway). He is of no value to us other than as a corpse.
With apologies to our women in service, this is the result of Bill Clinton's emasculation and "effeminization" of the US military. This is as "open & shut" as a case of treason can get, yet the military chose not to prosecute it as such. Unbelievable!
Put him in prison now so that he does come back in 35 years to run as president as a Rat. Scary similarities.
Treason is rarely prosecuted in the US. (as much as we see some committing acts of treason) Name the last case prosecuted US case.
remember he'll serve out his sentence in a military prison and he'll be the only traitor there. he'll need more than soap on a rope to serve a full sentence.
NO MUSLIM PERSONNEL are to be involved with Mid-East operations!!!!!!!
(& Chechnya or the Phillipines, when we have to go).
Some nasty stuff coming out of that Wahabi mosque near Ft Lewis.
John Mohammed, this guy, maybe Chap Lee, and I think the fragger from the 101st had been at Ft Lewis, too.
Justice delayed is justice denied...
Sounds like Rosenberg (For all you youngin's the Rosenberg's gave the Soviets, Russia, our nuclear secrets) style treason to me, so why isn't he getting the same treatment.....I wish someone would get a spine!
