Congress Members Seek Officer's Dismissal

WASHINGTON - A group of congressional Democrats is asking President Bush (news - web sites) to dismiss a senior military intelligence officer who made church speeches that included inflammatory religious remarks while discussing the war on terrorism.

In a letter to Bush released Thursday, Rep. Barney Frank (news, bio, voting record), D-Mass., and 10 others said action in the matter of Lt. Gen. William Boykin is long overdue, and he must be removed from his post as deputy undersecretary for defense.

A Pentagon (news - web sites) investigation concluded that Boykin violated regulations by failing to make clear he was not speaking in an official capacity when he made nearly two dozen church speeches beginning in Jan. 2002. It also found that Boykin, who made most speeches wearing his uniform, did not get prior clearance for the remarks.

Boykin's comments, said the lawmakers, "demonstrate a serious lack of the objectivity that should be accompanying military intelligence."

In one speech, discussing a U.S. Army battle against a Muslim warlord in Somalia in 1993, Boykin told his audience, "I knew my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol."

After the controversy erupted, Boykin issued a written statement apologizing to those who were offended and saying he did not mean to insult Islam. He has remained at his intelligence post during the investigation.

Barney Frank, leading a coalition of the virtuous socialists in Congress. Stick a plug in it, Barney.

Poor choice of words - he will be all too happy to stick a plug ... if you want to torture him, tell him to keep his mouth shut :-)

Mr. President... I request the immediate dismissal of all government employees which have spoken out against the war and undermined the mission and the troops.

Geez Louise! The Leftists are still after Boykin for having the audacity to (gasp) stand up for Christianity and (gasp!!) speak the truth about the death cult of Islam?!

Hell, if it'd been up to me, Boykin would have been promoted!

No good deed goes unpunished, telling the truth, least of all!

May God bless and protect General Boykin.

Wasn't this case 'done up' on J.A.G. recently?

If he made the remarks in church one would assume that the people had the same God the General has. If he made the remarks in uniform, well that's like wearing a business suit for people like me. I see no problem at all, though I might if the talks were given in other places while in uniform.

No issue here. The Army handled it. In a civilian court the issue of free speech comes into play.

Was Ann Richardson present?

Why is it that woman and Barney (her brother) never manage to appear together?

"Rep. Barney Frank (news, bio, voting record), D-Mass., and 10 others said action in the matter of Lt. Gen. William Boykin is long overdue, and he must be removed from his post as deputy undersecretary for defense."

One by one, methodically and steadfastly, they are attacking and banishing all good men of faith who have the spine to speak their Christian beliefs in a public forum. This is why homosexual perverts like Barney Frank weild so much power today. There's barely anyone around anymore who dares to speak out against Frank's perverted ilk.

He should have been forced into retirement as soon as it was found out he had not cleared his speeches with his superiors, and for doing it while wearing the uniform of a Lieutentant General. Very poor judgement.

He showed very poor judgement.

A general's job is very political.

If he wanted to say such things he should have a) been out of uniform, and b) made it clear this was his personal opinion.

I'm not saying his opinion is incorrect.

1993, Boykin told his audience, "I knew my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God and his was an idol."

Barney Frank phallus worshiping Marxist sodomite...defends the god of Islam....against a Christian general...

Demands that Pres Bush sanction him....

The founders would have executed BF a long time ago....traitor that he is...or at least ran him off to a nation he could feel more at home in....

Wherever that maybe..

It sure as heck isn't in America

IMO
