Okay, so I'm a selfish hedonist for supporting Alan Keyes for U.S. Senate

Okay, so I'm a Selfish Hedonist for supporting Alan Keyes for U.S. Senate

Nothing (well almost nothing) would please me more than seeing Alan Keyes win a seat in the U.S. Senate!

Why?

And despite his remarks on reparations or affirmative action, I would be extremely happy and take great pleasure in seeing Alan Keyes defeat Barack Obama. I believe whole heartedly that unlike Obama, Senator Keyes would preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America to the utmost of his ability and would dedicate himself to working with all of us in securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, and if that makes me a selfish hedonist, then so be it.

I challenge anyone here to put up a detailed list of the reasons why you believe Barack Obama would be better for America in the Senate than Alan Keyes.

Because it's always been about attacking Keyes because he has a 'disagreeable' personality and not on the issues.

I think a term in the Senate might temper that diamond in the rough (personality).

Mr. Keyes will have to half (or possibly more) of his brain removed to actually serve in the Senate. He's much too smart to be a Senator, at least of the type we have now.

Not at all. I wish all descendants of slavery could be exempt from the income tax. Just as I wish that soon after, all the rest of America could also be exempt. Would be better yet if we could all be exempt starting at the same time. I think that would be one of Keyes' priorities. Looking forward to the debates.

Did Alan Keyes infer that Bush was "evil" or not concerning stem cell research?

Was he not eating his own and isn't that a perfect example of his being very guilty of what you say "is not a conservative position"? Does Alan Keyes get a pass?

Okie dokie, Pal. I'll take you up on your challenge. Obama would be better on the Senate than Keyes for the following reasons:

1) Obama would fight tp disarm you right wing gun nuts who would use your assault weapons to threaten the life and limb of thousands of parolees and felons who are simply carrying out their acts of self-employment.

2) Obama would fight to stop you fanatical anti-choice crazies from interfering with a woman's right to choose to have the Doctor finish off the job if the baby is accidentally born. Sheesh, if you nutbags are allowed to deny a woman's choice when the baby is accidentally born, this could lead to archaic laws banning D&C!

3) Obama would fight to stop you selfish, greedy fat cat pigs from trying to steal checks from poor welfare recipients to pay for stupid, idiotic tax cuts that you don't need.

4) Obama would be sure to vote to confirm judges to the bench who understand that the constitution is a living document that should be elastic as possible to allow for changing circumstances, like overriding homophobic, Christocentric laws passed by a bunch of rich white puritanical legislators.

5) Obama would fight to ensure that whitey (and those pesty smarter-than-thou Asians) doesn't try to unfairly monopolize seats in Ivy league schools just because they happen to have gotten a few more stupid questions right on some "exams".

6) Obama would fight to make sure that that we have Federal Airport Security Screeners who LOOK like America (specifically, South Central and downtown Los Angeles).

7) Obama would fight to end racial profiling (EXCEPT when it comes to screening out those Unfairly advantaged NON-people of color in employment).

8) Obama would fight to save America from those looney religious zealot nuts who would deny gay couples from being able to marry and adopt and raise children with the proper understanding of tolerance. Heather has a right to 2 mommies. Johnny has a right to two daddies.

9) Obama would fight to make sure that a bunch of yahoo, redneck, gun-toten' raw raws warmingers don't dominate other countries with alternate worldviews, Jihad, etc., which are just as acceptable as the Islamaphobes.

10) Obama would fight to stop Jim Robinson and his cronies from stepping on the fee speech rights of a few...alternative thinking freepers.

These are just a few reasons to support Obama. Any questions?

All I know is, Alan Keyes supports George W. Bush for President, and he supported the war in Iraq and the ongoing war on terror.

Since he unequivocally supports George W. Bush in his campaign, why won't you follow Keyes' example and support a fellow conservative in his campaign?

Yea but how many newborns will have to die before Obama gets his wakeup call? http://blackgenocide.org/black.html

I'm not going to hold a grudge for the rest of my life about that. He's the better man for Senate vs Obama by far.

I'm sorry, but Alan Keyes has already been ROUNDLY criticized for that on Freerepublic. He didn't "get a pass".

Now, he supports the President in spite of their differences when it comes to federal funding of stem cell research.

On the other hand, when are YOU going to support conservative Alan Keyes? I think Jim Robinson listed a number of excellent reasons why a conservative should support Keyes over Obama. Are you too bitter? Then you're no better than you claim Keyes to be.

I don't vote in Illinois and have already said that I would vote against Obama if I did. But it doesn't change my opinion of Keyes or who I think he is.

So one could reasonably argue that, since Keyes is a less-than-optimal candidate, and would be handicapped while in office, it might be better in the long run to have the distasteful Obama elected, as it would increase the chances of a better Republican candidate than Keyes taking the seat 6 years down the road and keeping it for a good long time.

It could also allow Obama to become entrenched.

You might find 'why' some posters dislike Keyes, 'within' your 16 points. They may not be pro-life, or God-fearers thus they aren't concerned about electing pro life judges etc.

Alan Keyes problem lies in his command of the English language. He talks over most peoples head most of the time and over the heads of reporters all the time.
Really, he is to smart for his own good.
By the way I have been a selfish hedonist in my life and I am not gay.
I disagree with him moving to Illinois and running even though I would like to see him win.
He doesn't have a snowball chance in hades of accomplishing that feat though.

Another hedonist in the house! waiting for Bush to speak.

Maybe this is Keyes' time. All the others were training missions...It aint over til the last ballot is counted and it would truly be an upset.

Thank you Jim.

Grudges are a waste of time, but judging a person by his actions and history is not.

I don't have the time nor do I want to go back and forth ad nauseum about this, but I think you can understand that there are some of us who find him too abrasive and hypocritical for our taste.

That should not be interpreted as support for Obama.
