My job tonight is an easy one: to present to you one of this nation's authentic heroes, one of this party's best-known and greatest leaders and a good friend.
He was once a lieutenant governor but he didn't stay in that office 16 years, like someone else I know. It just took two years before the people of Massachusetts moved him into the United States Senate in 1984.
In his 16 years in the Senate, John Kerry has fought against government waste and worked hard to bring some accountability to Washington.
Early in his Senate career in 1986, John signed on to the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Deficit Reduction Bill, and he fought for balanced budgets before it was considered politically correct for Democrats to do so.
John has worked to strengthen our military, reform public education, boost the economy and protect the environment. Business Week magazine named him one of the top pro-technology legislators and made him a member of its "Digital Dozen."

Yeah, Zell said these words. He was reading off DNC prepared remarks. Are people really surprised by that? That was political speech. Zell delivered from-the-heart speech last night. Why's he being attacked for speaking his mind? Should Zell place party loyalty above homeland security? Joe Trippi on MSNBC suggested Bush/Cheney bribed Zell into speaking. Come on Joe, watch it again. You really think he faked it?

I wonder what part of "Blind but now I see" they don't understand?
Probably all of it.
Gee Bullish, what do YOU think about it?
"What does everyone think about this?"
He didn't know what he was talking about. Flip - Flop. :)
I think it give Zell Miller credibility as a Democrat to attack Kerry. The Democrats can whine all they want to about Zell being a "turncoat," but he's been a Democrat all his life. He voted for Gore in 2000, and he still was a vital member of the Democrat caucus in 2001. Remember, if he really had been a turncoat like Jeffords, he could have caused another round of musical chairs by jumping parties in mid-term after being elected as a Democrat. If Zell Miller had been a turncoat, the Republicans could have retaken the Senate prior to the 2002 elections.
What do YOU think?
Senator Miller has said, several times, that he was new in the Senate and took the information provided by Kerry's office.
That was before he knew a troll when he saw one.
Zell was green on how the Senate worked. He finally saw the light in 2002.
9/11 was a wake-up call to a lot of people, including Zell Miller, Ed Koch, and Ron Silver. Even Tony Blair surprised me after 9/11.
Zell Miller has grown, evolved. Much like Jim Jeffords.
That was before Kerry could be a real threat to the security of the U.S.
I think kerry is a looser and a traitor; Miller on the other hand, is a great American.
I can't tell you how proud we are to have Zell Miller in the United States Senate. On behalf of all my colleagues - 48 others and counting - thank you for sending us a man of courage and vision.
Give it up. Nobody cares. Zell's work is done.
Zell said he will vote his conscience and would vote for the man who will be strong on security for the country and for the man who has a steady hand on the helm..............God Bless him for his honesty and candor.
PRICELESS!!!!
Why does everybody who's new have this Jimmy Olson repertorial style? Hmmm.
