Kerry's secret meeting with Hanoi delegation

AN IMPENDING BOMBSHELL? [09/01 10:10 PM]

Months ago, I was chatting with a Republican who is very, very knowledgeable about Kerry and I mentioned Kerry's 1971 travels to Paris, and meetings with Madame Nguyen Thi Binh. Binh had been a member of the Central Committee for the National Front for the Liberation of the South, and was now Foreign Minister of the Provisional Revolutionary Government (PRG) of South Vietnam. The military arm of the PRG was widely known as the Viet Cong, just as Madame Binh was widely recognized as the Viet Cong delegate to the conference.

"Yeah, I've heard about that," the Republican said. "I've heard a lot of interesting things about that, but I don't think I want to talk about that just yet."

My eyebrows were raised, but he wouldn't say more.

Well, apparently Newt Gingrich just said to Sean Hannity, very slowly, very carefully, that John Kerry traveled to Paris three times to meet with the Communist leadership in secret.

I think we now know what that Republican didn't yet want to talk about.

It looks like people are starting to ask questions about LT Kerry's secret meeting with Hanoi's delegation to the Paris peace talks. Kind of interesting that Kerry, after that meeting, advocated for the North Vietnamese position of unilateral U.S. withdrawl and the payment of reperations to Hanoi.

We discussed this last night.

The question came up as to whether on his first visit had he been discharged or was still active duty?

Anybody know?

There has been discussion about a Swift Boat Veterans for Truth ad coming out soon. My guess is it will take on Kerry's record in this area. I think this will be the nail in his coffin.

It will be fun to see how the press spins this.

I'm betting on this: It's perfectly possible to be against the war and still be a patriotic American. You right-wingers just don't understand nuance! You see everything in terms of black and white!

My second choice: You are looking at Kerry's trip out of context! You have to remember what was going on at the time!

I'm going to make a prediction......this meeting will be the SBVT's ad for October.

"The truth is that Kerry was still in the military when he protested against his own brothers in arms."

From the article.

Thanks. Answers my question.

My guess is it will take on Kerry's record in this area. I think this will be the nail in his coffin.

I'm hoping it will, after all the meetings are fairly well documented, as is the fact that Kerry was a commissioned USN officer while meeting with the North Vietnamese.

But apparently there are some legal questions about his status, see the link I've posted just above to a fairly complete discussion of the issues.

Some think Kerry was not in violation of the UCMJ due to his "inactive reserve" status, others think he was. And while he clearly was in violation of The Logan Act, no one has ever been prosecuted under its provisions.

I don't think you even need to address the issue of whether he was still in the military. The mere fact that he met with the North Vietnamese in Paris and parroted their line should be sufficient to discredit him once and for all.

It doesn't matter if he was still in the Navy or not (he was), unless he renounced his citizenship, he committed TREASON by giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

I agree that it was technically and morally treason, but you should read the article I reference in post #10 above, which covers some of the legal issues.

I also agree with Arkie2 in #16 above that the legal issues are nearly irrelevant.

So I'm hoping that the Swiftees will expose Kerry's treachery in an upcoming spot. It would be a shocker to the American public.
