"As much as SKerry blows his own horn do you think he'd have kept silent if he had been negotiating with government approval?"

Look, I would love for this to be right and for Kerry to crash and burn. But for some reason this smells of set up to me. He was an officer in the Navy at the time. He was not prosecuted, and he eventually was elected and had security clearance. I'm surprised that he was not outed for this back in the 80's when the GOP had access to his records and he was such a pain to Reagan over talks with the Soviets.

Lets just say, I would not be so anxius to go on TV with this one like Newt did last night.

Were you around during Vietnam?! NOBODY was prosecuted for covorting with the enemy. It was fashionable!

As for Newt, it's unlikely this was a careless remark.

Dems held both houses until 1994. Reagan WH was playing defense, not offense. I can't think they'd be digging through ancient records on each & every Dem going after them.

He was inactive Navy reserves..The same rules do not apply as do to active reserves.I got that from long threads discussing the issue.

You are probably right about caution. I think everyone is just pumped over how well the convention is going and seeing the polls finally change a little.

I have wondered all along why SKerry has gotten a pass. Honestly, there are too many stories that he's told that don't pass the truth test. Did politicians believe that he really spoke for Viet Vets and didn't want to roil the waters? Or was Vietnam just so painful for everyone that they just didn't want to open old wounds? Did it have anything to do with the Kennedy's? Did he have something on someone? Could this be coming out now because the person is dead?

I just hope whatever it is they have a lot of evidence. I personally think that if they have clear video of SKerry burning our flag that will be enough.
