Add the cable numbers to the broadcast numbers and viola you have just shy of 20 million sets of eyeballs on Schwarzenegger's speech.

The Blogspirator Reports:

Tuesday Night Shutout: RNC vs DNC Ratings

Monday night DNC ratings for the big three major broadcast networks don't exist... because ABCNBCCBS all blew it off completely due to poor ratings on Monday.

Reuters reported: Bare-bones DNC coverage draws lower ratings
He cited the Tuesday night keynote speech by Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama, the son of an immigrant from Kenya, who is poised to become the only black member of the U.S. Senate. All three broadcast networks skipped the convention completely on Tuesday, so Obama's emergence on the national political stage was largely overlooked.
Meanwhile, TV Tracker reports extremely high ratings for the RNC Tuesday night. (View 9/1/04)

-Overnights: NBC: 4.3/ 6, ABC and CBS: 3.4/ 5 each

-Viewers: CBS: 5.80 million, NBC: 5.50, ABC: 4.12

-Adults 18-49: NBC: 2.4/ 6, CBS: 2.2/ 6, ABC: 1.4/ 4 Source: Nielsen Media Research data

15.42 MILLION TO ZERO.

In sports terms, that's a shutout.

Meanwhile Upchuck Schumer and Hilla the Hun didn't turn up for the Democrat response. New York Post (print edition), p. 6 ^

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Charles Schumer, initially expected to headline the Democratic response to the Republican convention, are both missing in action this week -- leaving the job to lesser-known lawmakers.

The low-key Democratic response at the GOP convention is a sharp contrast from the Republican counterattack in Boston, where party luminaries included Rudy Giuliani.
