Related thread from last night. I think they were throwing some heavy sarcasm at the kerry daughters.

By the way, Barbara is an absolute knockout.

I would rather they just introduced their dad and said less, but that's the chance you take...........you can't have it both ways. They don't pretend to be politicians or have the gift of public speaking.

Look at it this way, from now on, their performances can only get better. I'm sure no one feels worse about than they do.

They don't have the "Do you know who I am" attitude that seems to be epidemic Kerrys, Gores, etc. They're very down to earth. But they need to get the giggling under control.

Look, the Bush twins were complete dorks up there last night. Their material and entire approach were off-base and inappropriate. This wasn't some MTV award presentation or a roast of their parents, this was a convention to nominate a President of the United States. And as a strong Bush supporter, I was very disappointed in their performance. Everything else in the convention has had such a touch of class and grace. These two were dorks. Thank God that Arnold and Laura were so good in their speeches.

I thought it was so nice to see a politician's kids who didn't act like a politician's kids.

EXACTLY what I thought.

They were embarrassing, to me. I heard a radio caller say they semed like female Beavis and Buttheads, with the lame giggles and lame dialogue. Twenty-two-year old daughters of the President of the United States, telling the nation they're "not political." I guess their parents never got across to them any sense of responsibility, values, conviction. But we already pretty much guessed that, didn't we, if half the stories are true?

Joking about marrying Democrats. I guess values don't mean anything, huh, girls? The vicious attacks on your dad, the country, its heart — no big, as long as you get to party.

Bad moment; don't know what the speech writers, etc., were thinking.

Dan

I was BEGGING for someone to cue the orchestra music to usher them out, like at the Oscars ...

Me too. My daughter is their age, and she called and said they acted very amateurish and ditzy.

I would have preferred that they show up with orange hair, tatoos and piercings and yell "down with M-Fing Haliburton". Maybe thrown in a jengis khan or two*. /sarcasm off

*Note the kinds of idiotic things John Kerry said when he was "young" too. 27 YEARS OLD!! And today, John Kerry, who REALLY embarrassed himself before the county when he lied before the US Senate, is one election away from being the president of the United States of America!

How's that for a contrast!?? These two young ladies have much more decorum and class than John Kerry. Who, today, spouts such vile trash and lies that it makes me want to puke! And what about Kerry's wife? A nutcase! Don't get me started on her.

You want another example? Another contrast of presidents "children"? OK! Glad you said yes! Take a look at that little weasle boogerhead Ron Reagan. Not a kid, mind you. A greown man! But I'd put those two young ladies up against him any days of the week.

Those girls did just fine. I'd prefer they would have let me write their speech but it's not big deal. I expect that the male voters under 25 liked what they saw and didn't hear a damn thing anyway.

If I were the Dean of Yale, I would be very embarrassed. This is what this "elite" school is graduating?

The twins were a disaster. I missed Laura's speech because I had to turn the TV off....I couldn't take it.

As bad as it was, I don't think they did any lasting damage, at least not with what I heard. No Licorice the Hamster moment. Or was there?

Yeah, it was kinda cool watching them act EXACTLY like my daughter's little giggly friends.

There are reasons for the "Dean of Yale" to be embarassed. Barbara Bush is not one of them.

I am surprised so many people give a flip whether or not they were funny or poor comedically. The convention is not a somber event, and there are many opportunities for lighthearted moments, funny or not.

At least they don't project the elitist self-importance of the Kerry kids.

I'd rather see the Bush twins make bad attempts at jokes than the Kerry girls give tongue-baths to Ben Affleck and the like any day.

Could have done without the "Sex in the City" line. Really created an awkward moment for the entire hall.

Actually there was, Jenna said that unfortunately their hamster didn't make it. Pretty funny.

A shame you missed Mrs Bush, she was quite good.
