Ha ha. Well, they said it, not me:
"Remember all those times when you're growing up and your parents embarrased you? Well, this is payback time on live t.v.!"
(I loved it and thought they we're funny. I'm sure that their family loved it too!)
Video of twins convention speech courtesy msnbc.com here
I was afraid we were going to have another McGreevey type announcement! LOL!
Same here. Who vetted their speech?
exactly... get up on stage, just be your selves.. Duuuh...
My office is full of men. They liked the Twins. One of them has a daughter their age and he said, they were very typical of GOOD KIDS. They are not pot smoking fools. They were pretty, gracious and belong to a family, millions would give their eye tooth to be a part of.
Nuts taking bad against them. Are those of you who are so nit picking... trolls, or just trouble makers?
I thought they did fine - to me, the giggles or whatever came off as having a case of the nerves. I know if I were in front of that many people, and on nat'l TV, I wouldn't do anywhere near that good.
They came across pretty well, to me.
Oh please, the girls were just what they are. They have not been brought up in a family that is consumed with politics and what the girls can do for their path to power. They are new college grads who have no experience in public speaking. They came across as honest and warm and not the least bit phony.
I read on another thread that Karen Hughes and Laura Bush vetted the speech, after the girls wrote it themselves.
Oh, come on, all of you!
Would you really rather have had the sickening and very "mature" polished "performance" of the Kerry girls, with all that gush about how wonderful their father is, or the almost embarrassingly real young women we saw last night?
Sometimes, we can be so picky that we reveal more about ourselves than about those we criticize.
Frankly, I thought the Bush girls revealed an interesting fact: despite having grown up with a grandfather who was President of the U. S., and now a father who is President, they can be natural, giggly, and unsophisticated, and totally unimpressed with all that stuff.
Right now, you can hear a more sober talk being made by them to the Youth Group.
Maybe this is more to the liking of their critics. And this is the right place--before youth!
Lighten up, Francis. We are all in this together. One of these guys may save your life one day.
They are kids-goofy kids--the kerry women are just that WOMEN..i have a son who just graduated college and he is goofy..By the way we are voting for President not first family and Laura is head and shoulders above Mrs ketchup..
If the convention organizers insisted on putting them on stage, I'd have expected their speech would have some level of decorum. If what we saw last night was them being "real young women" it doesn't speak well of them.
I'm with you. I was embarassed for them.
Pray for W and Our Troops
They either don't have children, or forgot what they were like.
This is the silliest damned thing to get one's panties in a wad about I've ever seen.
MEMO TO KAREN HUGHES:
Stay retired
MEMO TO LAURA BUSH:
We're you drinking?
Oh for heaven's sake. You're the biggest tight-ass on this thread.
Do you realize you sound like the church lady?
Another church lady.
Just gag me with a spoon until I, like, totally die. Fer sher.
As long as they don't give their dad advice on nuclear weapons, what's the problem?
I never thought there'd be this much harsh reaction to the Bush twins. Sheesh, go back to your breakfast of bran flakes and stewed prunes, you old fogies.
